Final Milestone Moment at New NHS Set for March 29
The public is invited to visit the new Neenah High School for an update on the construction progress on Wednesday, March 29 from 4-5 p.m. in the fourth and final “Milestone Moment” event.
Miron construction staffers will lead visitors through an informative visit of the site with specific explanations about the stages of the construction. The event does not require hard hats, but visitors are advised to dress accordingly and wear closed-toe shoes. Visitors should also be prepared for muddy conditions on the site.
This will be the final “Milestone Moment” until the official dedication ceremonies take place in August. The latest images of the site are available on the District website.
Trauma Video Recommendation from Dr. Mike
As the Mental Health Coordinator, I sometimes hear a lot about the different issues that schools around the District are experiencing. As we are coming out of the pandemic, we are noticing some of our children experiencing increased symptoms of anxiety, acting out, inappropriate attention seeking, and a host of other behaviors that are challenging.
I recognize that your time is precious, so I rarely recommend videos or books without having screened them as something that might be of benefit to you and is worth your time. I found this 24 minute video from Dr. Bruce Perry called Dosing and Spacing in Education and Therapeutics that I hope you give yourself some time to watch. Dr. Perry's explanation of the stress response as it relates to performance and resilience is the best explanation I have seen in this area.
If you would like me to come to your building or talk to your staff in your department to discuss this further, please contact me. Thanks for all you do!

In-Person Group Retirement Appointments Offered Statewide
The Department of Employee Trust Funds is offering in-person group retirement appointments outside of the Madison area and throughout Wisconsin. ETF benefits specialists will be conducting 44 sessions across the state from now through the end of June, including Appleton, Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Oshkosh and many more.
Group appointments can accommodate up to 12 employees and their guests; therefore, wait times for group appointments are usually much shorter than for individual appointments. The ETF benefits specialist reviews the same topics covered in an individual appointment, and attendees will have the benefit of learning from other members’ questions. No individual or personal information is shared with the group.
Please Send Duplicating Requests Through Papercut
Staff members are reminded if you are submitting printing jobs via email you must use Papercut, or if you have multiple jobs that are the same, please email them directly to: sabrina.filo@neenah.k12.wi.us.
PLEASE DO NOT send jobs to the copy center email as that address is not checked regularly.
Next EFN Grant Request Deadline is April 7
The Educational Foundation of the Neenah Joint School District (EFN) provides a wonderful opportunity for NJSD staff members to receive funding for new and innovative teaching practices and programs, programs designed to address the developmental, emotional and social needs of students, and other school related programs and clubs. EFN has funded small requests of as little as $200-330 and large requests of as much as several thousand dollars.
If you do submit a grant application, please provide a detailed description of your project (the more we know the better we can evaluate your request) and any documentation you have to verify or estimate the cost of your project. Upon receipt of a grant application, EFN will contact you to arrange for your appearance at our next scheduled board meeting so you can appear via zoom meeting to answer any questions the EFN board may have about your grant request and to present any relevant information not contained in the grant application.
The next grant request deadline is Friday, April 7. Click here for more information and to submit a grant request.
