Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
Fall is definitely in the air these days! We do send students outside unless the "feels like" temperature is below 16 degrees or it is raining hard. If it is cool or wet, please send your child with a jacket. As the weather changes, we will likely have more indoor recess times. Because students have to spread out, it will be helpful for them each to have their own gallon size plastic bag of things to do in the event of indoor recess. They can certainly still talk with their friends, but some of the things they used to do won't work with required distancing.
We are looking forward to parent and teacher conferences. You should have received via email a link to sign up. We apologize that it came out later today than planned. We are using a new sign up system, and we had a few issues. If you have not already signed up, please do so. We look forward to the opportunity to talk with you about your child's strengths and areas for growth.
We had our first day of SHIELD testing yesterday. Overall, I think it went well. I was impressed with our students and staff, and their cooperation allowed us to efficienlty move through the schedule. The length of time each student took to test varied from less than 1 minute to 20 minutes, depending on how quickly they were able to produce saliva. If your child expressed any concerns about it, you are welcome to opt them out at any time by emailing me. The teachers remained in their classroom with their students, so the students not testing were with the teachers in the room.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
Principal

Halloween at Lions Park
On Friday, October 29th, we will be having a Halloween Parade (outdoors and weather permitting) at 1:30 p.m., immediately followed by the classroom parties from 2:00-3:00 p.m. All parents are welcome to attend the parade, but only assigned room parents will be attending the parties. Students will have no food at the parties, so they will be masked during the entire party.
Students should not wear their costumes to school in the morning. For safety reasons, please use face paints instead of masks, and please remember, items like toy swords, guns, bats and other weapons MAY NOT be brought to school. If your child(ren) will be leaving the building during the lunch hour to prepare for this event, please complete the form at this link by 3pm on Wednesday, October 27th. Each class/grade level will be released from a specific door. More information will be shared when we know the number of students leaving. When students return at 12:50, they line up outside their morning entrance doors.
There is no need for students to go home to prepare. If students stay at school, time will be provided for them to put on their costumes.
