Cedar Grove Friday Flash
October 4, 2019
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
Now that Fall has arrived, Montgomery County Public Schools will begin converting from air conditioning to heat between October 14 and 29, 2019. During this time, there may be days when neither service is available. In addition, students will be going outside regularly for recess, PE, and curriculum-based activities. Please check the forecast daily and send your child to school dressed for the weather.
Cedar Grove Keepsakes (ornaments and stands) have arrived and will be sent home with students on Monday. Parents who previously indicated on their order form that they prefer to make arrangements for pick up may do so in the office during school hours. Questions should be directed to Joan_Zimmerman@mcpsmd.org.
Our APEX Fun Run for all grade levels is scheduled for Thursday, October 24 and will take place on the school field, weather permitting. In the event of rain, the runs will take place in the gym. The grade levels and time frames are listed below. Parents are welcome to come and cheer on the students as they run laps.
Grades 2 and 5 at 9:40-10:25 a.m.
Grades 1 and 3 at 10:30-11:15 a.m.

You're invited to, "Arrive Alive: A Forum for Safe Routes to School in Montgomery County"
Our community is invited to attend “Arrive Alive: A Safe Routes to School Forum,” hosted by the Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations (MCCPTA) and the Montgomery County Pedestrian, Bicycle, and Traffic Safety Advisory Committee (PBTSAC). The forum will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Northwood High School, 919 University Blvd.W., Silver Spring, MD from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
This free event will bring together stakeholders determined to ensure the walking and busing routes for students are safe. Sidewalks, cycling paths, bus stop locations, and parent drop-off loops are all important components of keeping kids safe as they walk and ride to school.
We welcome parents, students, concerned neighbors, and anyone who wants to walk or ride a bike safely near a Montgomery County school. Community members, parents, students, teachers and Principals, MCPS Departments of Transportation and Curriculum staff, MCPD, staff from the Montgomery County Planning Department, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, Members of the Board of Education, Councilmembers and the County Executive will have an opportunity for direct engagement and feedback.
