Knightly Update January 31, 2021
Edition Vol 9 Issue 25
Welcome to the last day of January. As crazy as this year has been, it sure is going quickly. Please know that mid-quarter grades will be posted on Friday, February 12, so if you have not reviewed your child's academic progress, please do so via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Please join me in welcoming a new member to our school's administrative team, Mr. Josh Roth. Mr. Roth was selected to serve as our school's Dean of Students. He comes to us from ASU and is very excited to be a part of our school community. I look forward to working with Mr. Roth and welcome him to ACP. I had an opportunity to take Mr. Roth around our campus on Friday to introduce him to our students and staff. With the addition of Mr. Roth, you now have four administrators to work with at ACP. Feel free to contact any of us if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
In addition to Mr. Roth joining our administrative team, congratulations are in order for Ms. Jaime McClure. Ms. McClure was selected to be promoted from Dean of Students to one of our school's assistant principals last month. Ms. McClure has done an excellent job as Dean of Students and I am excited that she will continue working in a leadership role on our campus. I consider myself very fortunate to be surrounded by a dedicated, student-focused administrative team. They all help me to be a better principal and what I have learned from each of them is invaluable. We will be finalizing administrative duties in the next few days and will share those responsibilities with our families in a future Knightly Update.
This week, our 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will begin the registration process for the 2021-2022 school year. A video will be shared with our students during club time on Monday, highlighting the processes to select next year's classes. We have elected to do the registration process by paper this year due to some changes students have the opportunity to consider, specifically opting to take a class in person at ACP or online via Chandler Online Academy. Our school's counseling and administrative team will be meeting with every student to discuss their course offerings 1:1 throughout the month of February. We intend to meet with incoming seniors first and with the members of the Class of 2024 towards the latter part of February. I will send the registration video that students will be viewing later this week for your reference. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact me.
I hope you have a very nice week and the month of February is kind to you all. If you have any questions, please contact me. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Go, KNIGHTS!

It's School Counseling Week!
National School Counseling Week 2021, “School Counselors: All in for All Students,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated this week, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
We thank Dr. Vezzosi and Mrs. Vitton for being actively engaged in helping our students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents; for working in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world; for focusing on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, postsecondary and social/emotional development; and working with our teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University
The Board of Directors of The Global Health Leaders Conference at Johns Hopkins University, would like to invite our students who are interested in global health and medicine to apply for our 2021 virtual conference.
The international conference is a Johns Hopkins University student and faculty-led program within the JHU Undergraduate Program in Public Health Studies. At the conference, students learn about issues in global health, public health, and medicine directly from world leaders in these fields, forge friendships and connections with like-minded exceptional students, and share their own work and ideas on global health-related topics by presenting in their student speaker series. Additionally, the conference is a unique opportunity for students to include in their future interviews, essays, applications, and resumes. The purpose of the program is to develop the next generation of leaders in global health, public health, and medicine.
Virtual conference programming (such as featured speaker presentations, student presentations, etc.) will be held throughout the spring/early summer of 2021. The fee for this year’s conference is still to be determined, but it will be no greater than $39 USD. If this fee places a significant financial burden on a student’s family, the Board asks the student to inform them upon their acceptance to the program, as they do not want the conference fee to be a barrier for any deserving student. There is no conference application fee.
Applications to their conference are available on their website (https://glohea.org) and will be accepted until February 28th, 2021. Admission into the program is competitive, so they highly encourage students to apply as early as possible.
Please do not hesitate to email ghlcjhu@glohea.org or visit their website https://glohea.org if you need any clarification or have any questions. We hope interested students will take advantage of this opportunity!
