End-of-year Student Belongings
As we continue to work together as a community during this time, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we address student belongings pick-up at the end of the school year. We have put together a district-wide coordinated process for you to retrieve your child(ren)’s personal items that still remain at school.
In accordance with recommendations from Public Health Madison & Dane County, we will make sure our entire process follows COVID-19 safety precautions. We ask that you read through this communication entirely and follow these instructions carefully to ensure the safety of our staff and other families.
We will be conducting a curbside pickup at all K-12 buildings on:
June 9 from 2 to 6 p.m., and
June 10 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
We respectfully ask that all families follow these instructions to obtain their child’s belongings:
Student belongings pickup procedure
Procedure for families arriving in a vehicle: Before leaving home, please place your child’s first and last name, grade, and teacher name (K-5 only) on a sheet of paper placed up against your passenger window. If you have more than one child enrolled in the same school, write each child’s name on a separate sheet. A pickup lane will be designated, and all vehicles must remain in that lane. Upon arrival, please open your trunk without leaving your vehicle, if possible. A staff member will bring your students’ packaged belongings and place them in your trunk. All staff members will be wearing masks and gloves. For the safety of our staff, please remain in your vehicle at all times whether you are wearing a mask or not.
For families who arrive by foot, please follow the signs to the designated area. Cones will be set up 8 feet apart as a visual reminder of social distancing. Staff members will assist you from there.
All of your students’ belongings will be delivered in one trip out to your vehicle. This includes coat hook contents, medication (assisted by our health staff), yearbooks, report cards, if applicable. Contents of belongings will vary by level. A one-trip approach allows us to limit contact with you.
K-5 we will hold onto all items in the lost and found until the fall.
If a family has an ill member, please do not attend. Other arrangements can be made if you let your teacher (K-5) or building principal know.
With that being said, if you are unable to attend pickup, and believe that there is something of value at school, please call the building’s main phone on or before June 10th at noon.
Student belongings dropoff procedure
If you have any of the following items in your possession, please put them in a clear plastic bag (ideal) or grocery bag in your trunk. Communicate that you have items to drop off upon your arrival.
Library books: Families may return library books at this time, or can choose to keep them over the summer and return them next school year.
Classroom materials and school-issued equipment (books, instruments, etc.): Please return.
Chromebooks and hotspots: Please return if your child is currently in K-5.
We know that that is a lot of information. If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or your child’s building principal, and we will get your question answered as best as we can.
As always, thank you for your patience. We are so proud to be Stoughton Strong; we hold out hope for the future; and we appreciate your help as we work together each day.
Parade Fun
We've all missed our students so much during this challenging time. It was refreshing to see everyone's smiling faces and the many signs along the route. Thank you for sharing a bit of your day with us.
We miss you!
Get ready to Jump with us on Facebook
We realize that the Jump Around 3pm on the radio may not happen on this day, since radio stations only committed to playing Jump Around through the Safer at Home order (May 26), but I think the event will still work if participants play the song on YouTube, Apple, Spotify.

Summer Academic Support Survey
Dear Families,
As you likely know, we will not be having our Summer Excel program this year due to the challenges presented by Covid-19. However, we would like to learn if you have any interest in having your child participate in online summer activities designed to provide some academic support. We are not sure if we will be able to support summer activities. However, to inform planning, we would like to understand your interest level. We will make a decision about our plans very soon and appreciate your input!
Please fill out this short survey linked here to let us your thoughts.
Thank you,
SASD Administration
Family Virtual Learning Reflection & Survey
Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and support as we learn how to best serve students in a virtual environment. Please take a moment to provide us with important feedback regarding Virtual Learning in the past two months. Your input will help us 1. reflect on the positives and areas of improvement, and 2. anticipate how we can continue to adjust, as it is possible, yet uncertain that we may need to continue a type of virtual learning in the fall.
*Please fill out the following survey for EACH learner in your home.

Community Cupboard:
With the school building closed, our school's Little Free Library is also closed. Working for Kids has worked to relocate the books and expand the offerings. If you or your family are looking for some new-to-you books to use or could use a little help with food and personal hygiene items, please stop by our community cupboard. It is located at 1315 W. South Street (one block down South Street from Fox Prairie). We typically have canned and non-perishable food, many snack items, personal hygiene supplies and books for all ages. We utilize rigorous hygiene practices in the handling of items and encourage visitors to do the same.
This project receives ongoing funding support from Working for Kids and has received many donations of items from the community.
Fox Prairie Garden Committee
Hi Families,
If you have extra plants or seeds after planting your garden, we would love to use those in the Fox Prairie Garden!
We have a wonderful Boy Scout Troop helping us with the garden this year. But we could always use more help with planting, weeding, and harvesting vegetables. This year we will be taking vegetables to the Community Cupboard located at 1315 W South (1 block down from Fox).
Please sign up at this link if you can help! This is a new link we are sharing with the Boy Scout Troop.
