Captain Isaac Paine School
January Principal Update
January 19, 2021
Dear CIP Families,
Wishing you all a Happy New Year and hoping 2021 brings back some "normalcy" to our school days and everyday interactions as a community. Our students have returned to their new learning choice options for trimester 2. It it so great to see some new faces in the building and our distance learners virtually. I am so thankful that our technology keeps us all connected and engaged with each other during a time like this. I'm hoping to see everyone in person in trimester 3 or at least at the beginning of the next school year! HOPE, GOALS, and TOGETHERNESS is what we need.
Wishing you all health, happiness, and laughter for 2021!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Marcella Terranova Clark
CIP Principal
*Please contact Mrs. Soares or myself with any questions or concerns @ 647-5100 or via email @ Kim.Soares@paineschool.org and @ Marcella.Clark@paineschool.org.
STAFF & STUDENT SCREENING TOOL~
Mrs. Verducci, our school nurse will be monitoring the screening tool. All students and staff will be assessed verbally and temperatures will also be taken in regards to the screening tool not being completed prior to the arrival of school. Please FILL OUT the screening tool daily. This tool is in place for everyone's safety. Please call the school at 647-5100 if you have any questions regarding the screening tool.
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders~
* Students, staff, and families are expected to wear masks and social distance at all times on the school campus and in the building
ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL: PLEASE BE ON TIME!
Arrival & Dismissal is one of my favorite times of day where I can greet students as they enter the building and say goodbye as they exit the building. This process has been efficient and smooth and at this time there will be no changes.
CIP doors will open for student arrival at 8:55 am. Please do not drop off students prior to 8:55 am without adult supervision outside. Adult supervision and doors will remain open from 8:55-9:10 am. If your child arrives after 9:10, please report to the main entrance/office with your child. Virtual and In Person Learners will be marked tardy after 9:15 am and/or the start of morning meeting.
Please make sure your child is attending ALL Classes! Please have your child follow the schedule and be on time for all classes listed in their Google Classroom. Attendance is crucial to your child's education.
Dismissal will begin for parent pick ups at 3:15 pm; Last names: A-L: 3:15-3:20 pm and Last Names: M-Z: 3:25-3:30pm. Please remember your Picture ID!
Please wear masks and practice social distancing until you and your child are safely in your vehicle.
Bus dismissal will begin as bus transportation arrives. Hoping to have all students dismissed safely between 3:25- 3:30 pm from the building.
Please remember to send in your child's "yellow slip" for any changes in transportation.
*If you are "picking up" classroom materials please avoid arrival and dismissal times since this will interfere with safety. Materials can be "picked up" until 4:15pm daily.
All Materials will be placed in the front foyer by grade levels in bins. Please buzz the office to retrieve materials.

Survey Works Information For Families~
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its annual Survey Works Family Survey, which is an opportunity for family members to provide feedback about our school community and our children’s opportunities to learn. The survey results are most useful when all families participate.
Your views on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to this school are important. By taking this short survey, you can help our school leadership and school community to make improvements. Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual; no one can tie your responses back to you.
You can take the short survey online between January 19 and March 31. To take the survey, visit bit.ly/ridefamily. Choose Captain Isaac Paine School from the dropdown list.
Thank you for your participation.

Fire, Safety, and Lockdown Drills
Fire, Safety, and Lockdown Drills-
Fire, safety, and lockdown drills are necessary for the safety of students, faculty and staff. State law requires fifteen drills per year. These drills are crucial so staff and students know where to go and how to respond if there was ever an actual threatening situation. All safety procedures are reviewed annually with staff. The school will conduct 15 drills per year following the RIDE requirements and COVID protocols as well as safety guidelines.
* In an event of a fire or potential safety concern families will be notified as soon as possible with an update and instructions if needed. Please avoid contacting and arriving at the school. Our focus first and foremost, is the safety of all the students and staff in the building. Visitors will NOT be allowed in the building during an emergency situation. We have safety procedures and protocols in place to ensure our CIP students and staff are safe. We thank you in advance with your patience and cooperation regarding this matter.
