Early Release Day-October 9th

Our first early release day is Friday, October 9th. We will begin dismissal at 12:15 p.m. On normal early release days, we eat lunch in the classroom. With our COVID protocols, this will not be able to happen and we don't have enough time in the day to allow all students to eat in the cafeteria. Due to this, all 1st-5th grade students who normally get a lunch from the cafeteria will be able to get a grab and go lunch that will be taken home. If your child normally brings their lunch, they will not need to tomorrow.

KINDER PARENTS-your students WILL be eating lunch at school tomorrow since they are so used to eating at 10:15!

Don't forget that Monday, October 12th is a student holiday!

Message from Mrs. Buckels

It is hard to believe that October is here and our first nine weeks is almost over! It has definitely been a unique start to the year and one that we hope to not have to repeat. We are so proud of our Parr Patriots for making such a wonderful adjustment to school after being out for so long. They are also doing a terrific job of wearing their masks.

On Oct. 13th, we will have about 75 Clear Connection students who will be joining us on campus. Please know that our car rider line may be a little longer until we adjust to the additional students.

Please consider supporting the Clear Creek Education Foundation's Dine out to Donate on October 19th. The proceeds go to support all the CCISD schools.

Report Cards

Report cards will be available in Skyward Family Access at the end of the day on Oct. 8th. This has been a very short 9 weeks due to the delayed start, being online for part of the 9 weeks and two storm closures. Due to these factors, many students may not meet the previously identified nine week targets for the first nine weeks of school. This could occur for a variety of reasons – all content expected to be taught may not have been fully taught by the end of the first nine weeks, the teacher may not have assessed for each skill yet, or curriculum decisions were to shift learning standards to other parts of the year. Rest assured, teachers are working collaboratively to plan targeted instruction to meet each students’ needs and have every intention of closing any gaps by early spring. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any specific questions about the report card.

Information from Nurse Burke

Make sure that you to complete the CCISD Self Health Assessment each morning to make sure your child is well enough to attend school. Please keep your child at home if they are not feeling well. If your child needs to stay home, please log on to Skyward Family Access and fill out the Wellness Screening. This will notify the school that your child is staying home, and the school nurse will be calling you to check in. If your child becomes ill at school, you will be called to pick them up. Make sure your phone numbers are correct in Skyward and your emergency contact list is updated. Please make sure to pack an extra change of clothes for your child to keep in their backpack this school year. This comes in handy for spills, slips, muddy puddles, and accidents.

Do you recognize these? Please let Nurse Burke if you see your child's glasses!

We will be donating to the Lion's Club on Nov. 20

Normal School Hours-7:55-3:25 pm. Tardy bell rings at 8:10-Doors open at 7:45 a.m.

The district is requiring all students to wear face masks while social distancing measures are in place. They will need to cover your child's nose and mouth. We recommend labeling your child's mask. Another good idea is to have 5 masks so they have a clean mask everyday. We will have a limited supply of masks available in case students forget a mask or lose it during the day.

Word of the Month-Responsibility

This month we are talking about Responsibility! The dictionary talks about Responsibility in a few ways: duty, accountability, and the independence to make decisions. We are using a slightly different definition at school:

Responsibility: to take action and understand how our choices affect others, ourselves, and the world.

Every day we make choices and take actions. Being responsible means we know how those choices impact all people and things involved! Sometimes we get to choose what we are responsible for, sometimes we earn new privileges through consistent and healthy choices, and sometimes we are responsible for things simply because we are a part of a community (and we all have to do our part!). We will spend time talking about what it means to be responsible for our classroom. We will practice self-control and develop helpful practices. Together, we can take Responsibility for a more kind, generous world!

Conversation Starters

  • You really want a new game, but you need a new pair of shoes. How do you decide between wants and needs so that you can spend your money responsibly? Talk about wants and needs in your life and how you’ve learned to tell the difference!
  • What are the responsibilities you have at home? How do people know what they are responsible for? Which responsibilities are you really good at?
  • What’s something that you want for our home? Would getting this thing demonstrate Responsibility with our time, money, or energy? If so, how might we earn this special something by showing Responsibility?

Questions You Could Ask

  • Why is it important to consider other people when you’re making your decisions
  • Who is the most responsible person you know? What makes them responsible?
  • What are some things that might get in the way of showing Responsibility? What are some things that might help us practice Responsibility?
  • What does Responsibility feel like to each person in your family?
