Updates
Mock DC
In preparation for the 8th grade class trip to Washington DC, the 8th graders have been doing research on many of the attractions. This coming Monday, May 1st, will be the 8th graders' Mock DC presentation on the blacktop (or the gym if it is raining) from 9:30 - 12:00. Throughout the morning, the school children will be "touring" Washington DC. 8th grade parents are welcome to come and see all of their hard work.
May Crowning
Next Friday, May 5th, at 9:15, Saint Lawrence Catholic School will celebrate May Crowning. This takes place at a special time, in place of the all school mass. For this special event, all students are asked to bring in a flower of any variety to present to Mary during the service.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Officially, Teacher Appreciation Week takes place May 8-12. However, many of our teachers are going to be chaperoning the 8th grade trip to Washington DC that week. In order to include them in this celebration, we will be observing Teacher Appreciation Week next week, May 1-5. Our teachers work tirelessly to provide the best quality education for your child.
ILEARN Update
On Monday, the 6th grade will take the Science tests. This is the last day of testing for this ILEARN cycle. Make-up testing will continue to take place, but that is the last scheduled test.
Registration and Account Balance Update
By the end of the school year, the last day of school May 24th, all account balances with the school need to be paid. If your child has been "Pending Accepted" but your balance has not been paid, they WILL NOT be officially accepted for next school year. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Maxson or Mrs. Handley.
Father Beechem
The Father Beechem Buccaneer Bingo event raised a whopping $21,000 for scholarships for our school. This is a new record for this event. Thank you to all of the students, staff, families, parishioners and volunteers who helped make this night a success.
Please read the message below about our last day of school which is on Wednesday, May 24th, noon dismissal.

Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) Eligibility
Families with children receiving free or reduced-price school meals are eligible to participate in the ACP. This includes children attending a school participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program.
The ACP provides eligible households a discount of up to $30 per month off their internet bills (or up to $75 per month for households on Tribal lands), as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 off an eligible connected device, like a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet. View this August 2022 letter from USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for more information, or click here to apply.
Growing Concern
A growing problem at Saint Lawrence Catholic School is the number of students who come into the building smelling of secondhand smoke from cigarettes and/or marijuana. This is an unfortunate situation for our students, both the student directly as well as their classmates. The smell permeates the classroom.
This is just one are of concern. The other is the unseen impact that it is having on our students. Our children are still developing. Exposure to secondhand smoke, be it from cigarettes or marijuana, in a compact area like a car, may be producing undesirable effects on your child throughout their school day.
Please make every effort to keep your children free from secondhand smoke on their way to and from school each day.

policy for details on our process.
2. Registrations will be open through May 12th . Mr. Maxson has taken a look at students who were registered before April 4th and marked those "pending accepted" who are not on conduct, academic or tuition probation. Large green envelopes with financial aid and school office forms were sent home on April 7th. You will have 30 days to return the
registration fee and all paperwork. Students who were registered after April 4th will be "pending accepted" each week and paperwork will be sent home.
2023-2024 Tuition and Fees structure for K-8
New tuition rates – our base tuition rate will be going up from $6913 per (K-8) student to $7190. For those students that receive the CHOICE scholarship, this difference of $277 will be mostly covered by the increased scholarship amount.
The STREAM and activity fees are not changing. STREAM is still $160 per family and activity fees are still $200 for K-7 and $300 for 8. Both of these fees can be covered by financial aid. The registration fee and processing fee are the only two fees that cannot be covered by financial aid.
Usually the registration fee is due 30 days after student acceptance and the processing fee is due by August 1st . We are not increasing either fee, but we are combining them into one fee that will be due within 30 days after the student has been accepted for the 23/24 school year.
One student = $150 ($125 registration + $25 processing)
Two students =$200 ($175 registration + $25 processing)
Three or more students = $250 ($225 registration + $25 processing)
Eucharistic Revival
One of the great things happening at Saint Lawrence Catholic School is our participation in the National Eucharistic Revival. This year, we have had a few holy hours of adoration as a school in which we spend time with the presence of Jesus. Recently, the US bishops discerned that it was our Mother Mary, under the title Our Lady of Guadalupe, who would be the patroness of the National Eucharistic Revival. As we get ready to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe this weekend and Monday, the timing could not have been better.
In addition, Blessed Carlo Acutis is the patron of the Year of Parish Revival! Blessed Carlo Acutis is a millennial who is on his path to sainthood and is already considered to be the "Patron Saint of the Internet". We studied him in one of our morning meetings as a saint of the day. This is an exciting time for the church.
