Hearts: Social Emotional Learning

Inspiration of the Week

"I have come to a frightening conclusion. I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or de-humanized." Haim Ginott

Restorative Justice Training

I will be doing two days of Restorative Justice training this week. I am excited to get up to speed with the training that you have all had in the past. I will be out on Thursday, 9.26 and Friday, 9/27. Feel free to contact me on my cell or text me at 408-489-6840 if anything comes up.

We are starting to envision a comprehensive social emotional learning program bringing together all the work of the last several years in RJ, PBIS, Glitter and Razz, Mr. Jahi's work. It is still in the defining stages, but I am excited to share with you as this unfolds. The November 13 PTA meeting will engage us is in a Community Equity dialogue. I encourage you to join this conversation with the parents!
