Kindergarten K.10 – The student will investigate and understand that change occurs over time (living and nonliving things change over time; changes can be observed and measured; changes may be fast or slow).
First Grade 1.7 – The student will investigate and understand that there are weather and seasonal changes (Changes in temperature, light and precipitations occur over time; there are relationships between daily weather and the season; changes in temperature, light and precipitation affect animals).
Second Grade 2.7 – The student will investigate and understand that weather patterns and seasonal changes affect animals and their surroundings (Weather and seasonal changes affect the growth and behavior of living things; wind and weather can change the land; changes can happen quickly or slowly over time).
Third Grade 3.8 The student will investigate and understand basic patterns and cycles occurring in nature. Key concepts include
a) patterns of natural events such as day and night, seasonal changes, simple phases of the moon, and tides;
b) animal life cycles; and
c) plant life cycles.
Fourth Grade 4.4 The student will investigate and understand basic plant anatomy and life processes.
Grade 5: 5.7 The student will investigate and understand how Earth’s surface is constantly changing.
Grade 6: The student will investigate and understand the organization of the solar system and the interactions among the various bodies that comprise it. Key concepts include:
g) the relationship of Earth’s tilt and the seasons.
