THIRD
We are proud of our third graders for their work so far! Students continue to work on learning our procedures for the year and building a classroom community.
This week we are learning more about different kinds of maps, and students even got to make their own map! We are excited to get our students started with our core curriculum and expand their minds even more!
FOURTH
FIFTH
This week in Ms. Brown's class, we read Why Koala Has No Tail by Vivian Fernandez and learned about annotating characters, comparing and contrasting characters, settings, and events, summarizing, and determining the theme. In social studies, we learned about geography, globes and maps, the 7 continents, and 5 oceans. In writing, we focused on creative writing where we introduced brainstorming, generating story ideas, story mapping, creating dynamic characters, and encountering trouble.
SIXTH
Innovative Learning
Now that we have sorted out (most) technical issues and covered our rules and procedures, we are moving on to subject area content! Be sure to check Google Classroom daily in addition to the daily Zoom meetings.
In World History, the students are learning to take notes as we discuss the 6 Essential Elements of Geography.
In math class, students learned about rules and procedures during week one, as well as navigating the Zoom classroom. During this week two, students reviewed math concepts that are common weaknesses accompanying the average incoming 6th grade student.
In music class, students are getting to know each other, learning how to use Quaver, our interactive music curriculum platform, and singing songs about Zooming back to school! This week, we did an activity exploring the meaning of identity and created identity maps to get to know each other in a virtual environment.
