A Little About Your Teacher

Hello there! I am originally from Spring, Texas but have lived all over Texas for one reason or another. I'm entering my 19th year in education. I've taught grade levels 4-8, but I have worked with students of all ages. I moved to Humble ISD after 13 years in Magnolia ISD.

After graduating from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) in San Marcos, Texas, I began working in 5th grade teaching Math and Science, then Reading, Language Arts, and US History, at an elementary school in Magnolia, Texas. I would move to the junior high three years later to teach 8th grade English and coach the cheerleading squad for another 11 years. I moved to Humble ISD because it is closer to home for me and it's where I would love for my own children to attend school.

My Life Outside of School

I am married with two beautiful boys and a sweet little girl. My husband is Brandon, and he works in the community of The Woodlands for Insperity. My two sons are Mauer (7 years old) and Miller (6 years old), and Collins (1 year old). They keep me very busy, but I love my role as a wife, mother, and teacher. We attend Woodridge Baptist Church here in Kingwood.

My "Why"

Ever since I started teaching, I have developed a strong commitment to foster an ongoing, engaging and supportive learning environment for all my students. I deeply understand the importance of our changing world and the effects these changes can have on our children.

With technology increasing and having access to so many devices at our fingertips, I understand the value it can have in the classroom. I am "unafraid" of using technology with my students and have utilized it in several different way to promote a 21st Century learning environment in my classroom to make it more student-centered.

Having an open heart and open mind are qualities I feel have been pertinent in being being a successful teacher. Living by this "rule of thumb" has helped me develop great relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents, and has helped me face the daily challenges of teaching and adapting to the ongoing changes in the educational world.

Check Back Often

They say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." I love, love, love to share pictures with my parents. I know how much I have appreciated the photos of my own children at various times throughout their school days that I can't be a part of. I want to share as much of this year as I can. They are only little once, and I want you to be able to treasure each moment. I know I will! I thank you, again, for the awesome privilege of teaching your child this year!
