News from Panther Headquarters
January 2017
From the desk of the Principal...
Hello Panther Families –
Each year time seems to go by more quickly for me, and this year is no different. Upon receiving this newsletter, we will be fully engaged in our second semester of the 16-17 school year. At HIJH, we believe that it is our job to provide real world learning experiences for students while incorporating 21st Century technology as a learning tool. In doing so, students will be actively engaged and be able to apply their learning in multiple ways. This fits right in with the HSE21 Vision, specifically the component entitled Transfer of Learning. Below is an example of students utilizing our newly created Collaboration Stations to showcase their research project in language arts of how the 1960’s influenced America. Students set up their displays in the LGI room, and other students and staff members were able to listen and learn all about 1960’s culture. It was a phenomenal learning experience for both everyone involved!

If you have an interest in auditioning, you should attend our Musical Audition Workshop on Thursday, January 5th from 3:15-4:45 at HIJH in the Choir room.
All audition materials and information has been posted on Blackboard over Winter Break.
Have questions? Talk or email Mr. Yoder, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Frawley (FCJH) or Mrs. Ferise (FCJH).
iPad Helpful Hints
Storage:
Typically shortly after Winter Break we see students run into issues with storage and begin running out of room on their iPads. Running out of storage can cause the iPad to run slower, keep certain apps from functioning, and prevent new projects from being started. To check a student's storage, go to Settings, select General, and then tap on to Storage & iCloud Usage. There we can see the amount of used and available space and tap on Manage Storage for more details on which apps are taking up the most room to see what is hogging the space and what the user might be able to take off to make more room. The beginning of a new semester is the perfect time to check storage and make sure there is available space for the rest of the year!
