The Leader In Me
Did you know? The Leader In Me website has resources for instruction and for parent communication? Check out the Family Newsletter by Dr. Jon and Jane Covey, "The Importance of goals" below.
The Importance of Goals Research has shown that the simple act of writing a goal greatly increases the chances of accomplishing the goal. If the goal is broken down into action steps and the action steps are tracked, goals have an even greater percentage of success.
At school, your child may write his or her academic and personal goals in a Leadership Notebook. You will gain a lot of information on how your child is doing if you ask your child to tell you about his or her goals. The goals chosen are meaningful to your child so be sure to practice Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood.
The Leadership Notebook idea can also be used in your home. Create goals such as reading together, eating dinner at the table, or doing an activity together. Involve everyone in the family in choosing a meaningful goal and action steps. Post the goal and the action steps in a visible place and be sure to track and celebrate progress!

ADVISORIES, STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Solar Eclipse: The solar eclipse will occur the morning of Mon Aug 21. The sun will disappear behind the moon for the first time since the early 90's; this is a rare and beautiful event. Please be advised that your child should not look directly at the sun on this day, as they shouldn't on any other day. Looking directly at the sun can cause serious injury. NP3 Middle is excited to share they will have a special schedule on this day to experience the event. Students will partake in several activities, which include things like tracking the shadow of the partial eclipse on the ground. We are excited to experience this opportunity and while safety measures will be reviewed and practiced on campus, we also ask that they're discussed at home.
Booster Meet and Greet: Boosters are hosting a meet and greet for families to meet from 5:30-7:30 pm Aug 23 at On the Border in Natomas. Come and join!
Science Camp Fundraiser: 6th grade will be running a cookie dough and gift catalog fundraiser Aug 29 - Sep 8.
Picture Day: Picture Day for all students is Aug 30.
No School: On Sep 4 for Labor Day.
Parking Lot: Our parking lot is a special place! You can help us ensure the parking lot is a safe place and practice kindness by: 1) use only the NP3 lot to pick up and drop off (do not use the Paso Verde lot), 2) respect administration and parent volunteer direction as they guide you to help both the flow of traffic and safety, 3) pull as far forward as possible to ensure the most room possible for cars to enter the lot.
Dress Code: Believe it or not, the dress code helps us ensure safety on our campus. Thank you to those who have reviewed and are following the dress code! Please continue to respect the expectations regarding the dress code. Common clothing items we see that are not part of dress code are athletic attire and t-shirts; please save items like these for after school or the weekend. View the entire dress code here https://natomasunified.org/np3m/about-us/codes-policies/#tab_widget_0_0_0_0_1
Edible Arrangements: Edible arrangements in Natomas is having their 2nd Annual Back To School smoothie sale. Please see attachment for details.
