What's New!
Halloween Fun! Thursday, October 29th!
Next Thursday, October 29th, students at Richfield Middle School are welcome to wear costumes to school. Students should not wear costumes to school on any other day.
The teachers at RMS will be partaking in costume fun as well! We will be in themed outfits for you all to attempt to piece together our theme!
Please keep in mind that we will still be holding class as usual. Here are a few tips to make sure everyone enjoys wearing costumes to school, yet still makes the most of the learning this day.
Please make sure that masks or face paint allows teachers to identify students during the school day.
Any props that portray weapons, or could be used as weapons, should be left at home.
Plan ahead for the weather and school activities. Students will participate in their regularly scheduled classes (art, music, gym, etc) and will head outside for recess as usual.
As the weather gets cold, please be sure students are dressed warm enough for the temperatures. Please do not send blankets to school with students.
Virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on October 27th & 29th from 3:45 - 7:45! Check your email for information on scheduling your conferences through Skyward Family Access!
Parents Note - If you attempt to enter a Meet and are denied access, please wait a minute or two before trying again. The teacher may be finishing up a previous conference.
These Meets require a Google account to access - please have your child log in with his/her Google account in order to access the Meet.

Last Week to Submit Pictures and Donations for Veteran's Day!
RMS Veterans Day Penny Challenge!
"WOW! RMS students and their families have risen to the challenge! Donations have exceeded expectations with your generosity to our Wounded Warriors-COVID program for Veteran's Day.
Donations of any kind can be brought to school through October 31st - keep up the great work!"
Donations will go to Wounded Warriors Family Support and their programs in response to veteran families affected by COVID-19.
On 8/31/2020 the U.S.D.A. announced waivers nationwide to allow districts to offer free meals to students through the National School Lunch Program's Seamless Summer Option. Through this program, meals are served at no charge to all students and the waivers are allowed through December 31, 2020, or until funds are exhausted. The program will begin automatically and there is no need to enroll.
The HHASD, at the time of this announcement, was not equipped staffing wise to offer this type of program. The district now finds itself at a point where we can offer free meals to our current face-to-face students and our virtual students only under the 'closed enrolled' status. The district can not be an open site at this time due to staffing constraints.
The offering of free meals will start October 1, 2020 and end on or before December 31, 2020. Students that have taken a lunch or breakfast in the month of September will have those meals charges reversed. Milk purchases are exempt from this program.
Virtual Learners Curbside Meal Program
In conjunction with the Summer Seamless Meal Program, our HHASD Virtual Learner families can use the link to place their Curbside Meal orders on a weekly basis. Orders must be placed between 9 AM Friday and 9 AM Monday. One survey completed for each child.
Information can be found permanently under the COVID -19 tab on our website.
Beginning the First Week of November Curbside Meal Pick Up Will Move to Wednesday's! The Last Tuesday Pick Up Will Be on Tuesday, October 27th.
COVID-19 Update
Having a singular symptom of a cough, shortness of breath/trouble breathing, loss of sense of taste or smell or in combination with another symptom, would mean a 10 day + 24 hour quarantine period.
Any COVID testing typically will require a 4-5 day wait and requires a PCR test. A rapid test negative result is not acceptable at this time.
When to get COVID testing:
- If you are asymptomatic, wait 4-5 days to be tested so that you don't get a false negative for possibly testing too early.
- If you start experiencing symptoms, but only minor, still wait the 4-5 days to be tested.
- If you have multiple symptoms or a major symptom, please do NOT wait to be tested.

Below you will see two guiding documents that outline the expectations relating to health and safety protocols. We are looking to partner with families as we ask families to please keep your child home if he/she is displaying symptoms. Students will be informally monitored by the classroom teacher and sent to the office for more official screening if displaying symptoms.
If students have two or more symptoms he or she will need to be picked up and must follow these criteria:
**Remain out of school for 10 days and be symptom-free for 24 hours prior to returning.
OR
**Have a negative COVID test result.
