Mr. Aleman's Monday Mail
Where you know what we know so we all know
Week of November 10, 2014
Quote of the Week
"The task of leadership is not to put greatness into humanity, but to elicit it, for the greatness is already there." -John Buchan
Math
As we weave our way through the tricky concept of fractions, we continue to work on comparing fractions by finding equivalent fractions. We are working more specifically on ADDING and SUBTRACTING fractions with like denominators. The concept is fairly easy until we add up to fractions that are GREATER THAN ONE. We'll keep practicing!

Science
As we wrap up our unit on Matter, we will use thermometers to measure TEMPERATURE. Temperature is the measure of heat (or lack of heat) within an object. Did you know there is no such measure for cold?? Next week we will take our unit test.
Don't forget that we do Science on Fridays. It's really important that your child is in class on that day so he or she doesn't miss instruction and lab practice.

- Homework for the week is the DAILY RIGOR 4. As I've explained to your child, 50 points of homework comes from turning in a completed worksheet. The other 50 points is given when answers are input into Edmodo. This will help greatly as we begin to graph the skills that we're struggling to grasp.
- MULTIPLICATION HOMEWORK is to study the NINES. There will be a quiz this week.
- Don't forget about SECOND TUESDAY TOMORROW.
