National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and in support of our beloved family member, Ms. Donaldson, we will wear Blue on Friday. Ms. Donaldson is a Cancer survivor and we want her to know that we stand with her. Please wear your blue on Friday, March 4th.

Leadership Board

Our Leader Board is filling up! We have watched each grade level add names each week to their list of leaders. Fourth grade is in the lead right now. They have 15 students on the list so far. Third grade is right behind them with 14 students! Thank you for adding students to the KNN list and also recognizing students on a regular basis. We have so many leaders and it is great to recognize them!

Leader in Me

The habit for the month of March will be Habit 6, Synergize. There are lessons for each grade level in the shared folder.

A Job Well Done!

Kudos to all participants who helped to make the Black History Program a success. A special thanks to the Fourth Grade team and Mrs. Hair for your work on preparing the students for their performance! The audience was engaged and attentive throughout the program and we thank you all for your hard work.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make STEAM Night a success. The parents seemed to thoroughly enjoy their time participating in the various STEAM activities. Thank you to Ms. Diggs for her leadership in preparing for the event. It was well attended and a great time was had by all!

Kudos to the entire Killian Faculty for your giving spirit. Because of your generosity, Killian Elementary received the Bronze Award for the 2015 United Way Campaign! Our hard work paid off! Thank you Mr. Pendergrass for your leadership throughout the campaign. We couldn't have done it without you!

Teacher of the Week Recommendations

We are accepting nominations for teachers to be recognized as Teacher of the Week. If you would like to nominate a colleague, please email your grade level administrator with the person's name and information to be shared when recognizing this teacher on the morning news show. The admin team will review all recommendations and make decisions on recognition and we will showcase that person on the morning news show.

Summer Professional Development Dates

Our summer professional development dates have been secured. Those dates are June 13, 2016 from 8:30-3:30 and July 20, 2016 from 8:30-3:30. We are asking all teachers to put these dates on your calendar. These professional development days will lay the foundation for our personalized professional development for the entire year. These days will count towards a "Swap" day for each day in attendance.
