Using LibGuides to Support Research

Let me build a custom research guide for your next project using LibGuides! The site can include links to databases and web-based resources, video tutorials or virtual instruction, handouts, and other embedded content all in one location. Check out a recent guide created for Ms. Rodgers AP World History classes.

Here's what she had to say about their experience:

"My students were able to quickly and efficiently access the appropriate specific websites. Ms. Lund linked in a couple of image galleries as well. Additionally, she called in our LSTCs to help our students access and learn to use their Goggle Drive. And she taught the students about EasyBib. We had a great experience with the project. Their projects and presentations were some of the best I have seen. Beyond what they learned for world history, they gained valuable research skills too." -Kelly Rodgers, STEM, Social Studies

Book Tasting with Ms. Ricci's 9th Language Arts Classes

"The book tasting activity was fantastic for my students of all levels. It encouraged my weaker readers to choose books that were engaging and level-appropriate without being overwhelmed by the vastness of our library. My stronger readers were able to choose books that were tailored to their interests, including dystopian literature, which they can connect with our class activities. In the classroom, I have noticed a big change in students' attitudes toward reading. I can now use it as a reward in class because students are always begging for an extra ten minutes to read their novel!"
- Elizabeth Ricci, Health & Human, Language Arts

See Mrs. Lund if you're interested in activities like this to support independent reading!

NEW Circulation Desk

Big image
It was a very happy moment in the library when our circulation desk arrived. We will not miss working on two tables! A big thank you to John Kelly and Scott Allen for printing the awesome vinyl graphics for the front of the desk. Stop by and check it out!

Collaboration Station

Perfect for group projects or teacher planning sessions. Connect up to four devices and display the device selected on the big screen. Ms. Rodgers AP World students enjoyed taking advantage of this resource for their recent group project about ancient civilizations.
