Professional Development Spotlight
VIRTUAL/BLENDED LEARNING ACADEMY:
On Monday, June 22, 2020 the Board of Education approved FSPS’s recommendation to designate 18 hours (Level 1, 2, & 3 of the Virtual Academy) of the existing 54 hours of required professional development for the 2020-2021 school year to be district-led and facilitate virtual instruction and remote learning. With the Board's approval, CARES Act funding will be used to award certified staff members a $500 stipend upon completion of Level 1, 2, & 3. If an employee chooses not to complete their 54 hours of required professional development, the employee will be notified in the spring with information about how to proceed. This is the same process that happens every year for required professional development.
Final Submissions that will qualify for the $500.00 stipend for Level 1, 2, & 3 will be Friday, March 12, 2021. We will work to get the payment dispersed in April 2021. Stipends will be added to your paycheck.
If you complete all three Levels of the VBTLA by Friday, March 12, 2021, you will have the Flex Day off on March 19, 2021. If you have not completed all three levels, you will report to work on Friday, March 19, 2021, to a location to be determined.
