Week of May 31, 2021

Dear Families,

Happy Memorial Day weekend and last week of school! Remember there is no school tomorrow and we will see our students back on Tuesday. Distribution will take place on Tuesday from 8:00-10:00 am and from 3:00-5:00 pm. Thank you all for a productive year and for working with us through the many challenges. We appreciate all you do everyday to help your child and our school succeed!

Please be advised that registration for Summer School Session II at Mar Vista (7/14-8/4) is still being accepted. If you are interested in having your child attend, please fill out the registration form linked here: Summer School Registration. Summer School flyers are linked below.

Kudos to all the students who participated in the Talent Show! It was so much fun to watch all the amazing talent we have here at Mar Vista! It was especially fun to see them perform in their various environments as well! Thank you, parents, for helping and giving students yet another opportunity to show off their unique abilities! I'd also like to give a big thank you to Ms. Lola Britton, Ms. Amy Ryan and Mr. J for putting it all together!

I'm wishing all of our students a great last week of school! Note that the last day, Friday June 4, distance learning instruction will end at 10:30 for TK/Kinder and 10:45 for 1st-6th and In-Person instruction will be from 12:35-2:05 as usual. Participating 6th graders will be attending the outdoor Promotion Ceremony from 9:30-11:30 am. Congrats to our amazing 6th graders!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Thank you,

Stephanie Monroe, Principal

Mr. J's Academic Coordinator Update

Hi, Families.

I want to thank all of you for your support throughout the course of this year! It has had its challenges but I am super impressed with how well everyone navigated through it! I hope you have a restful and rejuvenating summer!

Thanks for your help with doing the health symptoms pre-screening before bringing your children to school for in-person learning. This form can be found on the Mar Vista website. This makes the arrival process much quicker for everyone!

For those not attending in person, “summer learning kits” will be available at distribution on June 1st from 8-10 or 3-5, or by appointment in the front office that week.

It's not too late! We need you! The Mar Vista Parent and School Club (MVPS) is a non-profit group of parents, teachers, and the school Principal who work to promote the education and welfare of our students by: organizing fundraisers and events, providing technology equipment, art, music, assemblies, and basic school supplies, and supporting our library, classrooms, teachers & school improvements. We are always looking to bring in new energy into this important group, and incorporate the skills and strengths of our talented community. We want to hear from you! Even if you aren't able to attend monthly meetings, you can still help out by offering up your skills sets for various projects and events. Please complete this short survey and we will follow up on how you might be able to contribute to support our students this coming school year.
