The Berlin Boxing Club
By Robert Sharenow
The Berlin Boxing Club is about a Jewish kid named Karl Stern. Karl never thought of himself as a Jew. That all changed when Karl was attacked by an anti Jew club called the wolf club. They beat him up and told him that if anyone asked, he has to say he fell down the stairs. When his father was selling paintings a famous boxer came and wanted to buy a painting. Karl's father wouldn't accept so the famous boxer said that he would give Karl free boxing lessons if he could have the painting. Then over the next few years he had trained with the famous boxer (Max Shmeling.) The wolf pack tries to give him more trouble but Karl just brushes them off. You will have to read the book to find out what happens.
