Book/Materials Returns & Supply Distribution
Thanks to everyone who has been dropping off library books in classrooms and on Wednesday afternoons! Wednesday, June 9, is our final Free Book Giveaway/Materials Collection Day for this year.
Please return all books/materials to the library on Wednesday afternoon between 2:00-4:30, to the office any day the school is open, or to your student’s teacher. If none of those options work for your family, please contact the library staff at djardine@pps.net or bjamsgard@pps.net and one of us will be glad to stop by and pick them up from you.
Library Connect
As of May 18, all PPS students have access to a Multnomah County Library account, using their PPS ID # and the PPS Library Connect district code. This is exciting news because it means that ALL of our students now have access to the county library's resources and tools!
If your student already has an account with the MCL system, excellent! Their Library Connect account will not replace their current account, nor will their password change. The new Library Connect account will simply add on to become part of your student's overall MCL experience.
You can learn more about Library Connect by watching this video. (The volume is quite low, so you will want to turn up your device volume. Also, please note that MCL uses a different school district for their video example.) The fliers attached to the Family Newsletter provide instructions for accessing students' Library Connect accounts. Families that choose to opt out of Library Connect can do so by contacting our school office staff.
If you or your student would like help connecting with their Library Connect account, please contact me via email (djardine@pps.net), and I will be happy to set up a time to walk through the process with you. In addition, I will be hosting office hours on June 8 from 2-4pm at the following link. Students will need to be logged into their PPS Google account in order to access the Google Meet; family members are welcome to join.
Please let me know if you have questions or if I can help in any way. Happy Reading!
Multnomah County Library Summer Reading Program

Families of CDL students can pick up a Game Board during supply distribution on Wednesday from 2-4:30. Students can also sign up for the Summer Reading Program at this link starting June 16.

8th grade families, as we move into summer, please consider signing your students up for these excellent PPS programs that support their transition into High School. I have been able to sign up some students during hybrid. Ask your student if they have had a chance to sign up. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.

In 5th grade we are wrapping up lessons about coping with stress and applying learned strategies to situations they may encounter in middle school. Ask your student what strategies work for them!
Heads up that there will be no drop in lunch groups for 5th grade or middle school the last week of school. This was the last week for groups. I’m looking forward to opportunities for social groups (hopefully in-person) next year!
As we go into summer with the changes ahead for next school year, it is normal to experience some stress. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and connect with me.

The Middle School Student Council is working on our final project for this year: a 2021 Time Capsule. We asked all of our Middle School students to write about their life at Bridger and in Portland during COVID. We also asked them to make predictions about what life will be like in 20 years. We will be putting their answers, a slide show and 10 special objects into a box for a Bridger class to open in the future.
Our last Middle School Student Council Meeting will be next Wednesday 1:00-2:00. Google Meet code: bridgerstudentcouncil. All Middle school students are welcome to come!
Distance Learning Tips & Tricks
Hello Bridger community,
As we continue our series of educational websites that students may like to visit during the summer, this week I have to recommend a very common one and that website is: National Geographic for kids, the link can be found here: https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/. This website is fun and interesting for students and it includes videos, pictures, and even games.
I hope you enjoy the penultimate weekly newsletter and, as always, whatever you can do is enough.
Take care
PTA
Please join us next week for our FINAL PTA gathering of the year-- WEDNESDAY 6/9, 6:30-8pm! Here is the link to join us on zoom.
We will:
celebrate students and families
talk about our vision for next year
consider changes to our budget/fundraising so that they might better align with our values
vote in new PTA leadership!
In order to continue as a PTA, we need to have a new Co-President/ Vice President to work with Julia, and a new Treasurer (managing money), and a new Secretary (taking notes).
We also have a number of other positions open as we move into next year! (Kindergarten parent lead, events lead, communications lead and fundraising lead). Please consider joining us! We can’t do this without you.
Thanks to all who joined us Thursday to hear Jamie Cale and Rashelle Chase from Mxm Bloc PDX. Here is the video if you missed it, and here are their slides. We learned about identifying, owning, and combating microaggressions. We look forward to continuing this series of workshops with them next year.
