Sherwood Update: COVID-19

March 12, 2020

Principal's Note

As you know, district leadership has been monitoring the quickly evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic. At this time, all schools in North Shore School District 112 will be in session through Thursday, March 19, 2020.

In order to mitigate the risk of exposure of COVID-19 to our students while schools remain open, the District is taking preventative action, please see below.

Thank you in advance for your continued support and understanding during this time. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or Mrs. Rode.

Panda Pride,

Rachel

Postponing or Canceling Events

We will be postponing or canceling all non-essential after school events, including athletic competitions, musicals, and grade level-sings, that gather large groups of visitors into our school buildings now (March 12th) through March 27th, effective immediately. We are also canceling all outside facility rentals between March 12 and March 27 as well.

The following event will be canceled for Sherwood families:

  • PTO Skate Night (March 13)

(Special Note: Innovation Learning & PTO Enrichment WILL remain in session)

Volunteers & Visitors

We are also curtailing volunteers and excluding visitors during school hours in an effort to contain the spread of the virus until students leave school for spring break on March 19th. The only volunteers who will be allowed at Sherwood are those who serve in our PTO sponsored lunch and after school programs. While we value our volunteers, our priority at this time is the safety of our students, staff, and community members.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Our Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held via phone. Please have your child’s report card available during the conference so that you can reference the document during the discussion. The teacher that is hosting your conference will call you directly at the contact number that is listed as the first contact in our system. If you would like to be called at a different number, please email this request to your child’s teacher. If your conference will include parties at two different locations, please make plans to coordinate a conference call that is inclusive of all parties.
