Halloween Party and Parade Plan
Halloween Parade and Parties, Friday, October 29, 2021
Outdoor parades (weather permitting) will take place whereby students will parade outside and around the perimeter of the school. Parents/guardians can watch from afar by staying in the “parent/guardian” viewing areas located outside. Outdoor areas will be labeled when guests arrive.
There will be three separate grade level parade times:
3rd Grade- 11-11:30 AM
4th Grade- 9:30-10 AM
5th Grade- 12-12:30 AM
Classroom celebrations will take place inside the school and parents/guardians can donate party items. They will do this prior to the party by sending donated items in with their students and/or dropping off items by giving to teachers before or after school.
Parents/guardians may be contacted to assist with the party “preparations” however, they will not be onsite during the school day.
Students should NOT wear costumes to school. Rather, please send simple and school- appropriate costumes to school with your child. They will put them on by themselves, just prior to the school parade times.
Food Service Updates
The food service department is happy to be able to provide all meals to all students for free this year! This is a Government grant that allows us to do that. Along with the grant money there are guidelines we must follow. This Grant allows for only one complete breakfast and lunch per student per school day.
A breakfast includes: 2 Grains or 1 grain and one protein item, 1 cup fruit/vegetable and Milk. To be a complete meal 3 out of the 4 items must be taken and one of the items must be a fruit or vegetable.
School Lunch is made up of 5 food groups. These groups are whole grain, protein foods, vegetables, fruit and Milk. To be a complete meal 3 out of the 5 food groups must be taken and one must be a fruit or a vegetable.
Only one entrée is allowed for both meals. Students may purchase additional entrees or meal components at ala carte pricing.
Any questions please feel free to contact the Food Service office at 810-591-9449 or email at lgrant@lakefentonschools.org.
Torrey Hill Book Fair-October 11th-14th
We’re excited to invite your student to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from October 11th-15th at Torrey Hill Intermediate School during school hours.
• Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
• If your student can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

New District Nurse- Jordan VanRiper
Hi Lake Fenton Community,
My name is Jordan VanRiper and I am the new district nurse. I was raised in Swartz Creek, where I still currently reside. I attended the University of Michigan-Flint where I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I have been a registered nurse at Hurley Medical Center, in their pediatric departments for the past two years. In my spare time I enjoy being outside, traveling and cheering on my football team (GO BLUE). My family is a big part of my life, I am one of four siblings, along with my cat Rosie. I am excited to be a pivotal resource for your children here at Lake Fenton Community Schools.Awesome Literary Resources and Community Events

HELP WANTED!
We are also in need of Academic Interventionists, as well.
Please visit the link above for access to openings in ALL buildings. If you have questions about any of our job postings, please contact the building principal, Mrs. Conover.
Important Message- Reading and/or Math Support Is Available!
Our school has a team of teachers and aides who provide reading and math interventions to students who qualify and may need additional assistance. Some students receive interventions throughout the school year while others may only need help from time to time. We have trained staff who can provide these necessary interventions.
Students who receive this support, often referred to as Title One or LLI, are not removed from core instruction. Instead, they mainly receive support during non-instructional times such as silent reading time. The interventions are conducted in both small group settings and/or within the general education classroom. You will be informed if your child is receiving these services so please look for a special “Parent/Student Compact” coming soon.
If you do not want your child to receive this support, please contact either your child’s teacher or Mrs. Conover, principal by October 2, 2021. (This information has been previously shared).
