TSI: Technology Support Internship

A Hands-On Study of Technology in an Educational Context

Student-Led Support for the 1:1 iPad Initiative

Students enrolled in this year-long elective course will be presented with technology problems throughout the day and must define the best approach to addressing or solving the problem. Students will assist staff and students with hardware and software issues from the AV in the classroom to the iPad.

Course Activities

  • Create video and written tutorials for D211 core apps (Notability, Schoology, Edmoto, etc.)
  • Maintain a YouTube channel for training resources
  • Blog about current topics and trends in technology
  • Publish reviews about apps
  • Small group presentations and trainings
  • Attend a technology conference
  • Present at a technology conference
  • Field trip to a call support center (i.e. Chase, ADP, United)
  • Soft skill exercises in customer service
  • App exploration for students, staff, and departments
  • Prepare for and take certification exams (Microsoft Office, Adobe, IC3, Autodesk, CompTIA, HP, etc.)

Logistics & Staffing

  • TSI runs every period with 6 - 8 students in each section
  • Two teachers split the prep (4 TSI preps, 2 other preps)
  • Teachers are assigned 6 periods (instead of 5) and are released from their duty
