Peeking in to TAG Team 5
Highlights from the first week of school at UGE
Welcome to TAG Team 5!
Congratulations! We have all survived the first week of 5th grade and it was awesome! Each week, we will send home this digital newsletter to highlight the fabulous things going on in 5th grade. In the future, students will organize the newsletter and choose the topics to post each week. You can find older newsletters archived on our TAG TEAM 5 website.

Critical Friends Session for Writing Feedback
Students engaged in their very first "Critical Friends" session this week. This model allows students to give and receive feedback in a nonthreatening way. As students become more comfortable with this format, they should begin selecting friends they trust to offer clear and specific feedback to help them grow as learners.
Andrew posts his first Tweet!
Showing pride in our school already!
Several kiddos took the initiative to pick up debris on the school campus during our tour of UGE. Way to go!
Silent Collaboration
Students used sticky notes to exchange ideas which later determined our classroom rules. The kids decided that "We are respectful. We are responsible. We are safe. We are BRAVE!" Summed up a great learning environment.
Looking ahead...
Next week, Bill Dobbs (Nash Farms Civil War Museum) will visit our 5th graders to launch our first project-based learning investigation. He will invite them to curate a Civil War exhibit to be installed at Nash Farms in September! In the meantime, students will research to determine how our nation was changed because of the Civil War. Stay tuned!
