Kelley's Kids

Mrs. Kelley's 3rd Grade Class Newsletter

Great Week! September 2013

It was a fantastic week in 3rd grade! Students are getting to know me and I'm growing to love them. This week was heavy on routines and procedures but we sprinkled in some fun. Thanks to everyone that was able to come to the parent info meeting on Thursday. Here is a brief run down of what the kiddos will be up to next week. Remember, no school on Monday!

Math: Problem Solving (we will work on problem solving all year, every day!!) Place value, and addition combinations. Kids will continue with addition math fact practice daily.

Science: Making and recording observations, organizing data

Writer's Workshop: Continued work on gathering ideas for stories; strong verbs, complete sentences.

Reader's Workshop: Lessons will center around choosing "good fit" books. I will listen, observe, and continue to gather information about student's reading strengths and weaknesses. 9 for 9 Reading Challenge. (Ask your child about this fun incentive.)

Social Studies: Rights, responsibilities, and good citizenship. We will also begin an in-class project on biographies of good citizens.
