INTRODUCTION
THE PROCESS
- Beginning more than two years ago, representatives from different Central Office Departments including the Media and Communications Manager, Human Resources, Office of Equity, and Dr. Tremblay gathered to start planning for this transition.
- Initial research was done with student groups including high school students and elementary students who participated in Out of School Time programs.
- In June of this year the logo options were presented to the community.
- In July the District gathered community input from parents, staff, and high school students who were encouraged to complete a Google Form.
- In-person students contributed their input by placing stickers on a poster next to their preferred logo and slogan.
We are grateful to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for providing a grant to offset this project's cost to the operating budget. We tallied the results of the recent community input efforts and a winning logo and slogan have emerged.
THE RESULTS
The Smore outlining the Logo Concepts and Slogan Options was shared twice with parents and students via email and/or text. It was sent to FPS Staff; it was also promoted in the City of Framingham's bi-weekly newsletter; in the Brazilian Times; shared with on social media; and the FPS Website.
There were 706 responses to the Google Form.
- 667 in English
- 32 in Portuguese
- 7 in Spanish
The breakdown of stakeholders was:
- 337 Parents
- 146 Staff Members / Teachers
- 127 Students
- 96 Community Members
THE DATA
In addition to the Google Form, the District created a poster and visited several in-person summer programs including:
- Summer Scene at McCarthy Elementary School (Elementary Students)
- Framingham Youth Theater at FHS (Elementary Students)
- Middle School Students at FHS
- FHS Students at FHS
- Summer Park Meetups at Temple Street and Dennison
Between the Google Form and the visual sticker poll for students - Logo Concept 1 (The 'F') and Slogan Option 2 (Embracing differences. Inspiring futures.) were the winners.
NEXT STEPS
The new logo will begin to replace the old town seal version in various places. It can already be found inside the Farley Building where Central Office is currently operating!
The new District Logo, Colors, and Fonts will not have any effect on the Framingham High School Logo or Mascot. This is for Central Office, Administration, and District initiatives.
The District acknowledges expressed opinions on social media and those that were received via email. In the future any polls or opportunities to provide input will have a space for open-ended comments. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and opinions on this exciting endeavor and for continuing to help improve and shape our processes for the future!
