Principal Weekly Update

Thank you!

A big thank you to all of our parents and family friends who were able to volunteer for the casino over Spring Break. Your efforts go a long way in ensuring that our students experience at JPI is a positive one! On behalf of our JPI Parent Council, we wish to send a big shout out to our always helpful Admin Assistant, Mrs. Amanda Venters. She went over and above to ensure that this casino fundraiser was a success and we are thankful for all that you did, and continue to do.

A quick reminder that our Parent Council meetings are held once a month, and you are always more than welcome to attend.

As you would have seen in messaging sent out earlier this morning, I will be leaving the John Paul I School Community for the next school year. It has been an absolute pleasure being a part of this school these past 5 years, and I will definitely miss the students and families. I know that the new, incoming principal, Ms. Rankin-Anderson will be welcomed into this generous community, and I have let her know how special our JPI school is!

Reading Challenges

All our JPI classes are taking part in a reading challenge project. Each month, the classes are assigned different literacy tasks that they need to complete and at the end of the month, the class that checks off all their challenges as complete, will get a reward. Zenya (pictured below) in 3B, has completed one of the tasks for the month. What a great little reading spot you have going on, Zenya!

School Fees and Bus Pass Fess

Don't forget that school fees need to be paid as soon as possible. Bus pass fees are always due at the beginning of the month. Fees should be paid through PowerSchool, however, if you are unable to complete this, please contact Ms. Amanda in the office. She will be more than happy to walk you through the process or find an alternate form of payment.

ECSD students returning to John Paul I

All students currently in our Division will need to declare their intentions regardless if they are staying with their current school or transitioning into kindergarten or junior high. If your child is in Grade 6, and you have yet to confirm their junior high school, please do so right away!

Bottles for Ukraine

Miss Koller, Sr. Rassi, and Mr. Valdez wanted to let you know how thankful they are for all your bottle donations. To date, all donations have totalled approximately $750 dollars! The Social Justice Club is close to raising their goal of $1000 - every little bit helps!

Cobs Bread Fundraiser

If you enjoy Cobs Bread, the Harvest Pointe Location (5225 Ellerslie Rd SW) is the place to go! Anytime you make a purchase at this location and mention our school name, 5% of your order total is given back to the school. A running tally is done all year long and at the end of the school year COBS Bread will provide us with a cheque for the funds that we have raised throughout the year. A simple way to raise money for our school to help with field trips, equipment and other needs that the school has.

Spread the word to friends, family, neighbors, anyone you can think of!
