Mitigation Practices
With the recent surge in positive cases in our community, it continues to be important for everyone to remain committed to practices that reduce the spread of the virus. Our kids have done an incredible job of wearing masks and following safety procedures that are in place! Thank you for reinforcing this from home! At school we are reviewing protocol and updated guidance from the FHD. As part of the updated guidelines, all visitors who enter the office area will have their temperature taken. The health and safety of our students, staff, and community is a top priority. Thank you for your support!
Counselor's Corner
Hi HPE families!
I hope you are well! In an effort to continue to support our students and families, we are asking that you please complete this HPE family check-in survey. We would love to hear how you are doing during these everchanging times. We want to do what we can here at HPE to support our Patriot families.
Also,
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and our efforts to slow the spread, as well as keep our students, staff, families, and community members healthy, HPE will not be providing direct supports for winter/holiday assistance this year.
Instead, here are some local assistance programs to consider. (These opportunities are time sensitive and applying sooner than later will increase your chances of having access to the supports.)
Good Samaritan Network

HPE Book Fair Cancellation
At this time, we are cancelling our on-site Follett Book Fair along with closing the online companion fair. Orders that have been placed will be fulfilled. I will contact you personally for pick up when the items arrive. Sponsored gift cards will be saved to support students for our rescheduled fair in the spring. Thank you for your donations. We will continue to collect sponsorships at anytime leading up to the spring fair. Those dates will be announced at a later time.
Sponsor a Student
Sponsor student participation at the book fair. Depending on your budget, provide multiple gift cards for students who would not be able to purchase something from the fair. You can sponsor a child by purchasing a Follett Book Fair gift card is easy, just go to https://www.giftfly.com/shop/follett-book-fairs, then choose your design and denomination. You can send them directly to our librarian at kmorgan@hse.k12.in.us. These cards will be distributed to teachers to give students in need.
Support Our Library
Birthday books with donor plates are also available. You can purchase at any time, even if your child's birthday has passed. Students love seeing their name and friends' names in books in the library.
Click here to donate! Thank you for your support!
HPE Curbside: Expanded Pick Up Times
Do you need more books to read and enjoy at home? Virtual learners can use HSE Curbside service to borrow books from the library.
Beginning on Monday, November 30, all students will be able to place up to 4 books on hold weekly. Our new pick up hours are going to be Monday- Friday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
There will be a book cart in the front vestibule. The curbside pick up book cart is organized alphabetically by last name. All book stacks will have a name tag to help you easily locate your books.
You can just walk in, grab your book stack, and go. No need to sign in or check in with the office. There will also be a book bin for you to return materials as you finish with them.
Books will be ready for pick up the day after you place your holds. So if you place your holds on Monday, they will be ready for pick up by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Books will have a two week loan period.

Easy Ways to Help the PTO
Cut your Box Tops for Education and send them to school with your student at any time. Visit www.boxtops4education.com for a list of products.
If you shop on Amazon or at Kroger, check out these completely free and zero effort ways to raise money for the HPE PTO. The prices are the same, the service is the same, you shop the same way, but a portion of the purchase price will be donated to the PTO, that’s it!
On Amazon, just go to smile.amazon.com/ch/20-0114174 to link your account to the PTO and then check out using smile.amazon.com everytime--you cannot access this through an app so fill up your cart and then open a browser to check out or shop directly on smile.amazon.com.
For Kroger, login to your online account or create one using the Kroger Plus Card number you already have or get a new one. Then go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards and enroll in Community Rewards. Search for “VA241” and select “HARRISON PARKWAY ELEMENTARY - PTO.” Then scan your Kroger Plus Card or enter your alternate ID every time you check out just like you always have.
