Hawk Happenings!
Holy Rosary Bilingual Academy
Happy Monday?!
Hello, Folks.
I am sending the email early this week to remind everyone about Ash Wednesday. We will have mass at 9 am this Wednesday in the school auditorium. We hope that you can join us. Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the period known as Lent in the Catholic Church. It is a time of preparation as we journey toward Easter and the celebration of Eternal Life. The focus is on prayer, fasting, and giving. Even though most people focus on giving something up during this time (such as chocolate!), many others add something such as prayer as a way of growing closer to God on this journey. The period lasts for 40 days. During this time, we do not eat meat on Fridays (or on Ash Wednesday) and those between the ages of 18 and 59 are required to fast, which is why the day before Lent is called Fat Tuesday! It is the last day before fasting begins... :)
I hope that, no matter what you do during this time, the period of Lent gives you the opportunity to closer to God and to appreciate the many gifts that He has given us, not the least of which is Eternal Life.
Have a wonderful week!
Blessings,
Katie Dempsey
Principal

Tacoma News Tribune Story on HR Church/Change in Gate Protocol
Based on the recent interest on the church, we will be keeping the gate near Delin Street (by the church) closed and locked during the school day. Please do not park in the back parking lot in the morning unless you are staying at the school all day. We don't want your car to get locked in! Since parking is limited on the side and we can't park in the spaces designated for the Parish Office, please feel free to park along the edge of the circle in front of the church, if the spots in front of the school are taken. Thank you!
