Hello Dear One,

How are you? How is your vessel? Empty, full, stagnant, flourishing? I’ll be honest, it’s been a rough year. I apologize if I’ve been a bit silent, practicing what I preach for my own self-care. Regardless of challenges, I trust you are well and finding ways to flourish if not reimagine.

I realize there’s been too much that’s happened to list since last we connected. I also realize your experience of life may be radically different than one of a neighbor, co-worker, friend or family member. Kindly leave room for noticing. Compassion begins with awareness. What's life been like for you?

I don’t have all the answers, just a few unique perspectives, warm heart, kind ear for listening and hope for an evolution of spirit and intent where benefits abound for everyone. I sense it's time to emerge. What are you noticing?

During this last season, my capacity to care for my clients has continued to be strong, a true test of my own resilience practices. Their flourishing is proof too. I cannot be more humble and grateful for my ability to serve. It calls on my wide web of skills both learned and intuited. One thing for sure, I am 100% clear that I was born and crafted for this time, a conduit for change. How are you feeling in this season?

With this said, I have noticed my drive to be driven has begun an evolution, an emergence or reallocation of attention and meaning. I drove hard for decades for credentials and experience to prove my capacity to serve leaders in transition and what happens more often is I call on my intuition, honesty, creativity and compassion to listen between the lines to serve best. What or who do you rely on most at this time?

Sure.... I help someone leave a job for another. Career coach? Yes, but it’s more than that. They take bold brave action with heart and sanctity in mind, and in practice. This time, they don’t leave their soul at the door. Life coach? Yes, and...

Lately, I also find myself pausing for much longer with clients, deeply listening to their heart, to the jostle or softness of their voice... I ask them to pause too with me, and to imagine in the stillness, to nestle in the bosom of possibility, something bigger. Spirituality coach? Maybe.

Sometimes we touch hidden grief and discover there’s some healing and freeing to do. I may find myself singing to a client, asking them to vision quest, use art, read poetry or burn a list of limited beliefs. I check in with their energy, a sensing practice I was born with. I sense what’s stuck way before you do, and with permission, help clear this, helping you access a sense of wholeness. Modern day shaman? Certainly.

But wait... you may ask, "Haven’t you worked with government leaders, executives, physicians and non-profit directors?" Yes. I do. And... what I do, what we do together helps them do their work better because they actualize their gifts to humanity, lead with legacy. Leadership coach? Yes, and...

In this trying time, it does take our whole best selves to burst forth or peek through. Even when life challenges me, I do my best to help you. It’s the good worthy work worth doing.

I've noticed an emergence in me lately. How are you emerging, in what ways do you notice change?

How are you Dear One? What do you need? How can I help you grow in this unusual and beautiful season? This has been my love letter, below is the continuation of Inspiring Nuggets, a seasonal teaching to help you live life more fully. Thank you for your reading/listening. Enjoy!

Is it time for something different?

Buddhist teachers say "Chop wood, carry water." I say, "Stir soul, poke mind". While life may push and shove you to live life on life's terms, it may be time to include something different. I invite you to explore with me.

  • Spring is nearly here! I do hope wherever you are you're able to enjoy it. Where I live, in Raleigh NC-- animated by bursts of color and small movements in nature let me know spring is emerging a little more each day. From Texas to Canada, it was a very challenging winter. If you're still wrestling with the remnants of February's ice storms, I hope you find peace soon.

  • Thankfully, daffodils are emerging through cool ground. Birds are abundant in our yard, while fallen red camellia blooms decorate my car like its ready for a parade. What do you notice about spring's emergence this year? I've noticed an emergence in me lately. Have you noticed yourself emerging differently too? In what ways?

  • Besides sights, sounds and smells, a unique way to experience the season of spring is to explore it via metaphor. According to Eastern traditions there are 5 seasons each represented by an element, a color and a series of emotional characteristics. Here's a simplified explanation.
    • Winter : Water : Blue : Stillness : Fear
    • Spring : Wood : Green : Creativity : Anger
    • Summer : Fire : Red : Connectivity : Joy
    • Late Summer : Earth : Yellow : Integrity : Sympathy
    • Autumn : Metal : White : Acknowledgement : Grief

Spring is related to the WOOD element which represents the emotion of anger and informs a sense of renewal, forgiveness, vision, organizing, hope and most importantly-- creativity. Through the season of spring, we are invited to think and act in an upward and outward movement. When we embrace movement, we are freed from resistance and unnecessary struggle. It may come as a surprise to note that sometimes we need an emotional force, like anger or loss to fuel growth, momentum, innovation and creativity. Change of all sorts can do this for us, if we're paying attention. What are you tending with your attention?

    REFLECT ON YOUR LIFE

With spring comes new life. Tiny new buds and green shoots begin to emerge and seem to announce, "I'm ready to grow". Humans are no different. Even under adverse situations, we naturally aim ourselves towards improvement, progress and towards gaining the most success we possibly can. Striving to thrive is fundamental to our human evolutionary success, (even when it may look like self-sabotage or feel like we're going backwards). Take time to examine your own contribution.

In the spirit of spring, ask yourself…

    • What’s new in your life?
    • What needs organizing?
    • What is emerging?
    • What are you giving birth to, literally, metaphorically, symbolically?
    • What are you most angry at? And what might you do to creatively transform this energy into an action that produces feel-good results for you and others around you?

I trust you've gained valuable insight here with me today. Take what's useful. If you need/want more support or guidance, let's connect. More resources are below. Enjoy this season in all of its awe-inspiring ways! See you on the other side.

    Love and light, Annelies
