Women's History Month
The actual celebration of Women’s History Month grew out of a weeklong celebration of women’s contributions to culture, history and society organized by the school district of Sonoma, California, in 1978. Presentations were given at dozens of schools, hundreds of students participated in a “Real Woman” essay contest and a parade was held in downtown Santa Rosa (History Channel, 2022).
"Recognizing the achievements of women in all facets of life – science, community, government, literature, art, sports, medicine – has a huge impact on the development of self-respect and new opportunities for girls and young women" (NWHA, 2022).

Honoring Cesar Chavez
The Mexican-American labor leader and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez dedicated his life’s work to what he called la causa (the cause): the struggle of farm workers in the United States to improve their working and living conditions through organizing and negotiating contracts with their employers.
Committed to the tactics of nonviolent resistance practiced by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr., Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association (later the United Farm Workers of America) and won important victories to raise pay and improve working conditions for farm workers in the late 1960s and 1970s (History Channel, 2022).

Teacher Collaboration
Over the past couple of weeks, Titans have been engaging in important conversations on digital citizenship, critical thinking, visual literacy, and research tasks.
Next week, English 9 classes will be delving into algorithms and connecting their own digital identity work to research on social media.
Check out some of the highlights below!
Student Comments on the Image Above
I wonder if people sent these emojis to hurt this person.
I think this means that the person is overwhelmed, that social media can have many effects on your emotions, and that cyberbullying can affect someone as much as regular bullying because it brings alienation and depression.
I would title this "Cluster of Emotions" or "Pressures of Social Media"
Final thought... He is trapped in the whole Internet with no escape and is going through an emotional rollercoaster because of social media.
Student Responses
"People depend so much on technology that they need it to be happy. If they don't get likes, they become upset with themselves."
Student Responses
"We spend too much time on our phones instead of interacting with the world around us."
Student Responses
"Social media can be deadly and hurtful to people."
