D1 5th Grade Science PLC
It's time to announce our next D1 5th Grade Science PLC!
First, I would like to thank Peabody Elementary in the Sunset Feeder Pattern for hosting our very first D1 5th Grade Science PLC! We engaged in science notebooking, investigated lab stations, and linked process skills to formative assessment.
Our 2nd PLC will be hosted by the Henderson Elementary in the Kimball Feeder Pattern!

Science 4-Core: From TEKS to Unit Plans
During this workshop teachers will gain a better understanding of how to unpack the TEKS, develop purposeful and aligned instructional plans (PAI) with clear learning objectives (LO), and assess student learning formatively using demonstrations of learning (DOLs) and multiple response strategies (MRS). Topic: From TEKS to Unit Plans.
*Please log on to SchoolNet to register for this event. Teachers will receive a certificate of completion to include in their PDP.
Just In Time Training: 3rd Six Weeks
In order to understand the TEKS/SEs and be prepared for the upcoming six-weeks, participants will collaborate to unpack those standards. They will discuss RtI and differentiation strategies for each standard or bundle of standards. All of this will be used to plan ways to scaffold instruction, increase student-engagement levels, and develop purposeful, aligned instruction (PAI), with the goal of every student achieving success in the upcoming six-weeks. *Upcoming six-weeks standards are determined by looking at the district document, the Year-at-a-Glance (YAG) which is available online so please bring your laptop if possible. This professional development session will address differentiation for various learners including LEP, how to support SPED students in the science classroom, tiered RtI practices, and how to effectively embed the ELPS into science content.

New HMH Textbook Training
In order to teach to the level of rigor expected in the TEKS/SEs and to develop more effective aligned [LOs, MRS, PAI, DOLs, Differentiated Instruction, and Scaffolding], during this session participants will navigate through the print and online components of the newly adopted instructional materials. Participants will also discuss aligning instruction with scaffolding and differentiation strategies. This professional development session will address differentiation for various learners including LEP, how to support SPED students in the science classroom, tiered RtI practices, and how to effectively embed the ELPS into science content.
*Please log on to SchoolNet to register for this event. Teachers will receive a certificate of completion to include in their PDP.
