Colt Corner
Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence
December 9, 2016
Dear Colt Parents,
Our students had many opportunities to experience a great middle school week via some engaging student-centered learning in classrooms, UIL athletic and fine art programs including our student Holiday Showcase. All of these events take a lot of hard work and preparation by both our students and staff. We are very fortunate to have a hard working and dedicated staff to help make these middle school years the best possible for our students, for which I am truly grateful. Through the many opportunities that our students have at CMS, we help build a foundation for their futures.
Celebrating our 40 year anniversary gives me the chance to look back weekly at specific school years via old yearbooks and see the foundation that was laid by many former Colts in years past. We celebrate them weekly in this parent newsletter and at times through our Twitter and social media. Looking back at the 1992-1993 school year, I found a former Colt, Norah Jones, that also experienced the best of CMS. Like her, she needed the support of the entire Colt community to help lay a foundation to be the successful artist that she is today. As I've mentioned in the past, it takes more than just students being self-regulated learners, but also their teachers, staff, and family to help create a solid portrait of a graduate (P.O.G.) that we strive for. With that, I can't thank you enough for partnering with us, as it takes us all working together to make these middle school years the best possible.
BEST,
David Arencibia, Ed.D.

6th Grade Cotillion
Cotillion invitations were given to all 6th period teachers and passed out in class on Monday, November 28. Your child should have received an invitation and response card. Your child may have it in their backpack or locker if you haven't received it yet. Please mail the response card and payment in the addressed envelope that was included or turn it in to the CMS office. Please DO NOT have your child turn it in to any teachers as they are NOT collecting them.
In case your child has no clue what you're talking about when you ask them about their Cotillion invitation or they can't find it, the invitation and response card are attached below. Please mail your card and payment to Kelly Hall, 701 Green Meadow Street N Colleyville, TX 76034 or return it to the CMS office. You will receive a confirmation email after your payment has been received and recorded. Please remember that space is limited so send your response cards in quickly to ensure that your child gets a spot!
We will need MANY volunteers for Cotillion. A Sign Up Genius link will be sent to parents along with your confirmation email. ONLY parents who have an approved GCISD background check for 2016-17 and have completed the CMS volunteer training are eligible to help with this event. Please make sure you have completed both. If you have questions regarding volunteering, please contact Angie Wallace at mplusaw@att.net.
If you have any questions regarding Cotillion, please contact Sannon Elms at shannonelms@mac.com. Thanks and we are looking forward to a fun event and learning experience for all the kids!
