Creativity within Constraints
Dear Cougar Family,
As I have shared before, we are in the process of building a new home. On February 1st of last year, my husband texted me pictures of a partially complete house on some acreage that he and his brother were looking at, and the next thing I knew I was walking around the house staring at the timber framing, imagining what it could become. We made an offer, and we have spent the better part of the last year dreaming up our new house, starting with totally changing the floor plan.
Originally, the house had lots of teensie bedrooms and a small kitchen and living space. My cousin helped us redraw the plans, shifting walls and adding on a master suite. The house as it looks now is entirely different than what it looked like a year ago. Yes, it would have been easier to finish the house as it was, but it would not be the "just right" house for us. We ended up becoming very creative within our constraints. For example, we couldn't enlarge the kitchen but we needed more storage, so the large walk-in bathroom near the kitchen became my pantry, and we put the guest bathroom down the hall. This process has made me appreciate how these constraints have led us to creative solutions rather than imposing limits.
Sometimes, the best ideas and most innovative solutions occur when we have boundaries and limitations. I think this is true for us as a school as we continue to grow in number and in course offerings for students. Please take a moment to watch the video below called "Think Inside the Box: The Power of Creative Constraint" and consider how we can allocate our space, time, and resources as we plan for future lessons, units of study, and for our growth as a campus.
As we move ahead, there will certainly be constraints, but I look forward to being surrounded by all of you as we meet each challenge associated with growth with smiles and creativity!
Have a fabulous week leading our Cougars!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!

ARD/504 Invitations--Be Sure to Click YES!
The spring is certainly a busy time of year, and we know that any time away from your classroom is hard for both you and your students; however, another important part of our jobs is to attend ARD and 504 meetings. If you are on campus the date you are asked to attend an ARD or 504 meeting, our expectation is that you accept that invitation.
If you are getting multiple invitations for the same day or are feeling overwhelmed about the scheduling, please contact the assistant principal for the your department.
Student Recognition
We'd like to recognize the success of our students on the announcements and social media. Please email Tiffany and Victoria or place an announcement in the box on Tiffany's desk. In order to be included on social media, please either send a picture of students or your organization's logo. Thanks!
