Changes To Covid-19 Mitigations
In case you missed it in last Friday’s District Newsletter, the Board of Education accepted recommended changes to our COVID-19 procedures and protocols last Wednesday. Please review the Friday District Newsletter so you understand how we are operating moving forward. This plan comes with changes to our masking protocols so there will be periods of recommended masking and required masking in our buildings that are reflected on the weekly dashboard. These decisions will be made based on the Friday dashboard and if there is a change at the school for the following week, families will receive an email from FPS Communications explaining the change.
According to this week's dashboard, Forest Park Middle School continues to be 'required' masking for students.

Franklin Foundation Valentines for Staff!
This Valentine’s Day we invite you to surprise a Franklin Public School teacher or special staff member with a personally delivered Valentine greeting! Just let us know by completing this form who you wish to honor, and our volunteers will take care of the rest.
Remember, if you would like to recognize a staff member but are not sure of names, use the FPS staff directory to find those favorite administrative assistants and aides, custodial staff or special teachers in addition to your student's homeroom teachers.
Orders are due by February 6th. Your valentines will be delivered to the FPS school or ECC building on Thursday, February 14, 2022.
Report Cards - Coming Soon!
Semester 1 report cards will be digitally sent to you this week. Additionally, report cards will be available to be viewed on PowerSchool. Please watch this 3-minute video that explains how you will be able to access your student’s report card next week on PowerSchool.
As a reminder, grades are based on how students performed on the standards over the entire semester. Please remember that grades for core classes are reported by semester and not an average of Q1 and Q2. Encore classes (Tech Ed, Business Ed, Art, FACS, Music, PE) are quarter classes and the grades are reflected on the report card by the quarter.
Youth Mental Health Training
As part of a School-Based Mental Health Grant we received as a district, we are excited to offer another opportunity to train parents and community members in Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA). During the YMHFA course, participants develop an understanding of the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents, the importance of early intervention, and how to help an adolescent in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Participants will engage in a 2-hour self-paced course followed by a 4.5 hour in-person session with a district trainer on Thursday, February 24th from 4:30-9:00 PM. If you do not have access to needed technology for the online self-paced portion, arrangements can be made to provide you with a device and/or internet access. The deadline to register is Monday, January 31st. Please complete this survey to indicate your interest in participating. There are limited spots and an email will be sent to finalize your enrollment in the course and next steps.
8th Grade Families - Course Request Deadline
This is a reminder for our 8th grade families that your high school course requests and alternates must be entered into your Xello Course Planner by Tuesday, February 1. Make sure to discuss your choices with your parent/guardian prior to submitting. Do not delay - enter your courses as soon as you are ready. Contact your FHS counselor with questions.

On-Site Testing
As we shared in the District Newsletter, we offer an On-site COVID-19 Testing center at the ECC District Office on weekdays from 7am to 5pm for students, staff, and family/household members of positive student or staff cases or anyone deemed a close contact. If you are contacted by our main office at the school that your child is symptomatic and needs to be picked up or released from school, you now have the opportunity between 7am to 5pm to take your child to the ECC District Office for COVID-19 testing.
Please review this document for other details and questions you may have about how this will work. Testing is another mitigation strategy to help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools.
Don't Forget Your Coat
All students will continue to go outside for recess even as the weather gets colder. The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature. Students do not go outdoors if it is raining/snowing or if the temperature falls below 0 degrees wind chill. Please encourage your students to dress appropriately as they will continue to go outside for recess. This includes bringing a coat, hat and gloves.
Register for Franklin Little League 2022 Season
There may be a few inches of snow outside, but we're dreaming of sunny skies, chalked baselines and green outfields! Aren't you?! Register at www.franklinll.org for baseball and softball ages 4-16 by February 28th to get the best pricing!

Absence Notification Procedures
Like last year, we will be asking parents/guardians to use THIS FORM to report student absences. The attendance form is also located as a button on the main school webpage and under the “Parents Information” section.
This form will require you to enter your child’s six-digit student ID number and birthdate before you can report your child absent. Student specific medical information collected by the form will remain confidential and only be shared within the health and nursing services team.
Visitors & Volunteers in Schools
In regards to visitors or volunteers, any person entering any school building during the school day when children are present for school is required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Masks should be worn at all times when in the building, and the visitor/volunteer should limit direct contact with others and maintain social distance (6 feet or more) when able.
Visitors and volunteers who are outdoors during the school day where students are present are required to wear a mask unless they have been vaccinated. Visitors or volunteers in the building after school, in locations where students are not present, are not required to wear a mask.
Early Dismissals & Late Arrivals
If you come to pick up your student during the school day, we ask that you do not enter our building but instead pull up into the circle driveway outside of our main office. Your student will be watching for you and we will send them out to your car when they see that you have arrived. If you are waiting longer than a few minutes for your student, you may call our main office to check in (414-529-8250).
If you are dropping your student off late for any reason, you do not need to come into the school with your student. Please pull into our circle driveway outside of the main office where your student can enter and check in. We will give your student a pass to class and update their attendance at that time.
Please remember to use THIS FORM for ANY attendance related notification including students leaving early, arriving late or full day absences. Please do not send notes with your student to notify us of these changes.
Dropping something off for your student?
In an effort to reduce the amount of interruptions to students and teachers in the classroom, most items will be delivered to students during their 3rd hour class unless the item is clearly needed right away (for example, the student's Chromebook). If an item is dropped off after 3rd hour, we will get the item to the student as soon as possible.
Franklin Public Schools is Hiring!
We are hiring for Food Service Workers ($15/hour starting wage, part-time) and Bus Drivers ($21/hour starting wage, other bonuses, paid training through First Student in Muskego).
