April/May Newsletter: 4-22-22
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
It is amazing how quickly the school year is coming to an end. Our character trait focus in the month of April is Perseverance. Students are taught that Perseverance is sticking with something even though you’re tired, it’s hard, you’re fed up or uninspired. Perseverance is one of my favorite character traits because, with it, you can do anything! We have already done so much hard work...and we still have some to go.
Students will be persevering through state and district assessments over the next few weeks. There should be less of an assignment load from teachers. Be sure your child maintains good attendance throughout testing, as it can sometimes be uncomfortable to miss class to make up testing. In addition, please be sure your child is getting plenty of sleep, has a good breakfast, and is on time to school during the three-week window of testing. Let’s work together to set them up for an optimal opportunity to show what they learned after all their hard work during this school year. They really have come a long way!
There is much to read about below, including important information about the 2022-23 school year. Please scroll down and watch for the information that pertains to you. As always, feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tina Croes

She works tirelessly to meet the needs of every student she contacts with grace and humility in order to help them reach their full potential to become thriving individuals. She makes the kids #1, Miss Abby meets high standards with kindness beyond measure, compassion never failing, and above all else, the knowledge needed to do the job well. Mediocrity is not a word she lives by; excellence is her standard. Congratulations, Miss Abby! There is no one more deserving of this honor. Boulder Creek is blessed you are a part of our family!

2022-2023 TEACHER REQUESTS
Teacher requests are not required. Boulder Creek Staff carefully considers every student's needs when making class placements. While Boulder Creek is moving forward with accepting teacher requests for 2022-2023, please keep in mind that teacher requests are taken into consideration but are not guaranteed. There are many other factors that must be considered when building balanced classes. In addition, sometimes a combination class is necessary depending on the enrollment numbers at any given grade level. Students placed in combination classes are recommended by their previous teachers. These classes offer wonderful learning opportunities for students.
Please click HERE (this link will only be active April 25th-29th) if you wish to complete and submit a teacher request form (teacher grade-level assignments are subject to change). A teacher request is not necessary for middle school teachers as we have only one teacher per subject matter in middle school. We are a large school and as you can imagine, building classes is a huge undertaking. Therefore, any requests made outside of the teacher request window will not be considered. All teacher request forms must be submitted by Friday, April 29th at 4:00 p.m.
OPEN HOUSE - May 24th!
Open House is always that time of the school year when your child's classroom is open for you to come and see some of the incredible learning that took place as well as memories that were made throughout the school year.
After two years, we couldn't be more excited to see our extended Boulder Creek Family back on campus in person!
Open House will be on the evening of Tuesday, May 24th. This is a change from our originally scheduled date of May 19th, as the 19th conflicted with two major Redding community events. Grade-level spans will be open at different times in order to accommodate our families who have multiple children at Boulder Creek. Stay tuned for a flyer and more information as we get closer to the Open House date. We all look forward to sharing the great things that happened at Boulder Creek this year!
THE ANNUAL 4/5 DANCE IS BACK!
We couldn't be more pleased to announce that our annual 4th/5th grade dance is back! This year's theme will be "Tiki Dance," and it will take place on May 20th from 6-8 pm in the cafeteria. Besides just dancing, there will be games, a snack bar, and prizes!
This dance is always a big hit at Boulder Creek, it gets our intermediate students excited about all the fun times waiting for them in junior high!
Mark your calendars. More detailed information will be coming home soon.
GRADUATION
Like last year, this year's graduation will take place on the Boulder Creek field. Our normal indoor venue, Simpson University, has construction going on in their gym. Our field will allow us to include more spectators. If it's raining, our secondary plan will be the Boulder Creek Gym which would mean we would have to significantly decrease each graduate's tickets. So, hot weather is better than rain for graduation. Let's hope for something in between. Speaking of tickets, we will have a final ticket number for our 8th-grade families very soon.
Boulder Creek's 8th-Grade Graduation will take place on Tuesday, June 7th at 6:00 p.m.
We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2022!

PARENT PORTAL LOG-IN
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning of the year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please call our school's office at 224-4140 or email our tech helpline at help@eesd.net. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.
