Welcome Back to School!!

It is with great excitement that I welcome you back to the 2015-2016 school year. I am excited for so many reasons! This is my first fall as the Library Services Coordinator in Adams 12. I have been working in Brighton Schools just east of Adams 12 for the last 18 years; seven of those years were as a Teacher Librarian at Prairie View Middle School. Before that, I worked for Overland Trail Middle School in too many capacities to list.

I am thrilled to be working with all of you this year. I am trying to get out to meet each and every one of you personally. It has been a real pleasure to meet everyone up to this point. I would like to extend the offer to call or email me if you run up against questions. My contact information will be at the bottom of this newsletter. Please don't hesitate to contact me!

Titlewave Collection Analysis

Each school should have received an invite to do a Titlewave collection analysis beginning sometime next week. Jennifer and Tiah discussed it and determined that by asking each of the schools to do it on a different day at different times, we wouldn't overload the system and bog down the job manager. Many of you saw the invite and got started right away, so folks might have noticed a slowdown in the system.

Many of you have emailed and said that the "Submit Collection" button isn't there. Jennifer said that the username you use for Titlewave is not the same as the one you use for Destiny. If you don't know or aren't sure of your username or password for Titlewave, go to the Titlewave login page and click on the forgot username or password link -

Interlibrary Loans (ILL)

Please make sure you are placing your ILL requests through the Destiny system. Please also make sure you are checking that ILL list regularly to be certain you have met all of the requests sent your way. We are trying to alleviate the heavy email traffic by using the systems we currently have in place.

If you have questions about Interlibrary Loans, please contact Tiah, Jennifer, Sabrina, Stephanie or Elizabeth. They are all able to answer your questions.

ILL: Ready Holds

As I am learning the ropes, I am finding we need a few industry standards, best practices, more due to the size of our district and the amount of time it takes materials to travel from place to place, than for any other reason.

To get to it, log in to Destiny. Go into Back Office. Choose Library Policies. Choose Patron Types. Can you please set yours to at least the minimums listed below?

  • Ready Holds expire: 15 days
  • Pending Holds expire: 30 days

World Book Online

As you know the ITLS department purchased World Book Online for all the schools for this school year. If you don't already have a direct link to World Book Online on your school's web site or your school's library site, please have it added for easy access for your teachers and students. Here is a link to a doc that has the individual school links. Please link to your school's specific URL, if you do not, your school's data will be collected under the main URL. World Book Online has a variety of training resources on their site. We have linked them on the ITLS web site as well. Here is a doc with log in information for when kids are not at school, you need to be logged into your school Google account to access it.
