SONIC SPIRIT NIGHT
Sonic has partnered with GOES for Spirit Night on Thursday, October 3. Stop by America's Favorite Drive-In and help earn cash for our school as you enjoy a Sonic meal.
Reading Program
This year’s school wide reading program is Go Lead, Go Read. The program started on Friday, August 30th. Each child is expected to read for at least 20 minutes each night and return their reading logs each Friday or Monday (depending on your child’s teacher’s schedule).
Students who turn in their reading logs every week during the 1st semester and 2nd semester will receive a small prize. Reading logs need to be turned in on time to be counted for the week.
To assist with the reading logs please do the following:
1. PLEASE make sure your child’s FIRST and most importantly LAST name are on the log. We have to enter data for almost 1000 students. If even 10% don’t have their full name this omission adds an extra hour to our data entry.
2. PLEASE turn logs in when they are due. Your teacher will tell you the due date.
3. PLEASE add your child’s reading time in MINUTES. To understand why this is important read request #1.
You may also submit your child’s reading log electronically through the Gwin Oaks website. Fill in information with your child’s information (including your child’s teachers and grade from the drop down menu) and click submit. Email your child’s teacher to let him/her know log was submitted electronically to the Media Center. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Amolo at sharon_amolo@gwinnett.k12.ga.us

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION - OLD AND NEW
Welcome to another great year at Gwin Oaks. My name is Sue Ritchie and I am the Box Top Coordinator for our school.
Big changes are coming to Box Tops! Earning cash for our school just got easier and all you need is your smartphone. When you download the NEW and improved Box Tops app (it's free), you’ll be able to scan your receipt, instantly identify Box Tops products and automatically add cash to our school's earnings online.
Look for the logo when buying Box Tops Products. You can find it on hundreds of items you know and love.
Scan your receipt. No more clipping. Tap the SCAN button and snap a photo of your receipt within 14 days of purchase.
Earn cash for Gwin Oaks. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents. It's that easy. Box Tops earnings are identified and automatically updated online. Here is a link to a video showing the way to scan Box Tops https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh94b2BvFK4
You can still clip Box Tops and send them to school. Physical Box Tops continue to be found on many products throughout your store.
Please remember when sending in Box Tops - put them in an envelope or baggie with the student's first and last name, teacher and grade. If using a plastic baggie, please put this information on a sheet of paper inside the bag. Sometimes the writing smudges or comes off and I want to make sure everyone gets credit for their Box Tops. When turning in Box Tops, please remember to check that they have not expired. I can not submit expired Box Tops or those missing the expiration date. The Box Top container is just inside the Media Center door.
I encourage all parents to sign up at https://boxtops4education.com. It's free and you'll find coupons, recipes and other ways to win bonus Box Tops for our school.
Thank you for participating in the Gwin Oaks Elementary School Box Tops program.

VOLLEYBALL
The popularity of Women’s indoor and beach volleyball has exploded over the last few years with more youth interested in participating than ever before. A5 Gwinnett Volleyball Club”s (formerly GA5 Volleyball Club) mission is to teach life lessons through the sport of volleyball and we offers 2 programs. Both programs offer athletes of all ages consistent coaching and training methodology that is age appropriate and is a hallmark of the nationally ranked A5 Volleyball organization.
The opportunities we have for athletes of all ages and skill levels to learn and grow their passion for the sport are listed below, please take a moment to review them so together we can inspire as many kids as possible to bet started.
The National level program is open to all athletes who want to compete against other club nationally and have a goal of hopefully one day playing at the collegiate level.
The Regional level program is open to all athletes who want to learn and play the sport of volleyball and compete against other clubs locally. There are NO CUTS -- all athletes are welcome. Athletes who play on a regional team are able to play other sports but also receive the same coaching and training at a less expensive cost than the National program.
All these training opportunities can be found on our website at www.a5gwinnett.com. Located in Suwanee, GA, we are a regionally recognized program with national acclaim from our sister clubs.
All ages are welcome!
