Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism in the 6th Century.


Only 6 percent of the world population practices this religion. But this religion did spread rapidly throughout the world.

The Goal

The ultimate goal is achieving nirvana. The end of self and a reunion with the great world soul. This can only be achieved by understanding the four noble truths.


Buddha is the enlightened or awakened one. He was born into a ruling family in 563 B.C. Buddha reached enlightenment while meditating one day. He spent the rest of his life teaching, but he did not try and start a new religion. He did not think he was God.
