Weekly Report
We will be working on Book Taco for second semester. It's easy to fudge on a reading log. Book Taco will hopefully ignite more interest in reading. Logs will be more like a list of what was read during the week so they can use them for Book Taco. Book Taco information will come home in January.
Next week we will make some ornaments and learn a bit about some other holidays. There will not be a story quiz, spelling test, or an English quiz. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be early dismissal days. Students will be released at 1:55 each day. Thursday the kids can wear jammies. They will watch The Grinch this day. Friday is our classroom party day.
Reading--No weekly story. We will present our book reports from our reading log. Logs and book reports can be brought in Monday-Thursday.
Math-- We hopped around Topic 5. We will take a short quiz on Tuesday over Topic 5. We will work on addition and subtraction the rest of the week. You will notice that we will skip around in the book for the next several topics. This is to ensure that we cover the most important skills before testing in the late spring.
Spelling--No list/no test :)
Social Studies--Over the weekend a take-home quiz for the last Scholastic for the 2nd grading period is coming home. It is due on Monday. Use the issue to help with the quiz. Science--We will do a project with PLTW and finish up our first module. The kids are really getting into this.
English--We will work on some creative writing and write our pen pals back.
Reminders/Odds & Ends
*Dress for the weather. We try to go out most days if the weather permits.
*There are pictures below of "The Grinch" writing project. This was a great experience. A child from each grade K-5 shared a piece of writing. Thanks to Mrs. Johnsen and Mrs. Thompson for organizing it. Pictures from our cadet, Miss Figueroa, playing a review Kahoot with the kids after finishing the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
*Wear jammies on Thursday.
*Kids are low on some supplies. They may need some replenishing over break. Please ask your child what they need. Some are telling me their headphones do not work.
