The Founder of Rock n Roll
Buddy Holly
Buddy's Impact on Rock n Roll
Rock n Roll began as a spin off to the not so popular, black music known as Rhythm and blues. Rock n roll encompassed more than just black forms of music, it also found roots in country. It was the new crave around the country and teens loved it. The industry was still in the works and key pioneers such as Holly made Rock n Roll the way it is today. Buddy Holly had a very short career due to a terrible plane accident, but in the time before then he was a sculptor of rock. Despite playing such a major role in the development of this style of music, he was never all that popular. Holly stood in the shadow of Elvis and Bill Haley and His Comets, who he opened for. His music was not accredited to him but rather his band and there fore he was not all that popular. it took sometime for people to warm up to him, but once they became accustom to Holly he was able to attract a large black crowd towards the predominately white industry. Although, in the time Buddy Holly was alive he was never truly recognized, today we know he was one of the most important benefactors to Rock n Roll. Holly developed Rock and was able to bring in a large audience.
