2016 DC Trip
This week, most of our 5th grade students will depart on 'the big trip'! I know you all will have a fantastic time and come back full of amazing stories and new, first-hand knowledge. Please remember that it will likely be much colder in Washington DC than in Asheville. Students will be REQUIRED to bring a COAT in order to get on the bus for departure Wednesday morning. Please take a look at the special topics below for more info about this important trip.
MEDICINE
Students who require any medication will need to fill out an 'After Hours/Overnight Field Trip Medication Form'. There needs to be a doctor's signature on it and the medications need to be checked in to our staff the morning of departure. Each medication will need its own form. This includes sunscreen, aspirin, or cough drops.
Technology
Students are allowed to bring their device on their trip. Technology agreement must be on file and the same expectations apply. Discuss how your student can responsibly care for their device while traveling. Students may take photos. Gaming is not allowed during the trip. Books are welcomed.
Calling Home
Students will call home each evening of our trip from the hotel before bedtime. This will be done with their chaperones supervision. Students may not text or use cellphones to communicate during the trip to insure their internet safety and safety of their peers.
Snacks
Students may wish to pack some snacks for the long trip to Washington DC. Snacks should be nonperishable. Coolers and milk products are not allowed on the buses.
Dress Code
Students will be representing their school. Encourage them to look their best. Tank tops are not allowed. Pack comfortable shoes and a COAT.
Drop Off and Pick Up
Drop off and Pick up will be in the church parking lot next to the Claxton bus area.
