What is Netiquette?

The set of rules used for communication over the computer, and posting on the internet and social media.

The Rules of Netiquette

  • Don't say something you wouldn't say to your family members or to someone's face.
  • Use proper grammar when emailing your teacher, parents, employers, (etc.)
  • Use the THINK acronym:
  1. is it True?
  2. is it Helpful?
  3. is it Inspiring?
  4. is it Necessary?
  5. is it Kind?

  • Remember that there is usually another human being with feeling on the other side of the screen.
  • Use the block and report if someone is posting something harmful.
  • DON'T USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS WHILE EMAILING BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE YELLING.
  • Keep emails on subject and try to get it to the point.
  • Dont troll, and don't fight back with people who troll.
  • Respond to emails within 24 hours.
  • Check your email daily.
The video below is about how what you say and do on the internet matters.
