October Charger Report

From the Desk of Principal Weeks & Associate Principal Krey

What a great start to the 2020 school year

It has been a great start to the 2020 school year. Friday, Sept. 25th marked the midway point of Quarter 1. Please be sure to log in and check your child's progress so far via Teacherease. If you don't have a Teacherease account, please contact us and we will set you up with one. We are very proud of our students' progress so far and we are looking forward to seeing their growth this year!

Please note, Encore classes are on a trimester rotation for 6th and 7th grade. The Encore midterm date is October 16th. Trimester 1 ends on November 13th.

New Chromebooks Coming Soon!

New Chromebooks have arrived and will be dispersed to students in the weeks to come. In-person learners will receive their devices during the school day. Remote learners, please see the email from Dr. Weeks sent on 10/1/2020 for pick up information.

  • 6th and 7th graders will receive a new device, charger, and bag.
  • 8th Grade will receive a new device and charger. The 8th Graders received a new bag last year. If their bag is in poor condition, please let us know.

As a result of the new devices, our Technology Agreement was updated. Parents/guardians, please review and complete the form below for each of your Peacock students. Failure to complete this form may delay the distribution of the student's Chromebook.

YWCA Lessons

Again this year, we are partnering with the YWCA to deliver social-emotional lessons to grades 6, 7, and 8. Students in-person and remote will participate in these lessons during the school day during the weeks of October 19th and 26th.

A virtual parent Q&A session is scheduled on October 13, 2020, from 7:00-8:00 pm. Educators from the YWCA Patterson & McDaniel Family Center will be facilitating this adult program and will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Prior to the parent night Q&A session on October 13th, the YWCA kindly asks you to review the presentations below. The following links and passwords will be active until October 12th.

Charger Spirit Wear

School spirit wear is available for purchase again! The shop will close on Friday, October 9th.

Access Code: SPIRITWR2

Thank you for sending your child(ren) to school with a mask each day. Please reinforce social distancing and mask-wearing is mandatory for all students and adults when on school property. We appreciate your support in keeping our students safe and healthy!

As a reminder, please self-certify your children by 7 A.M. each morning via Teacherease. This will assist us in getting the students safely to their locations immediately. Additionally, we are able to see the "Healthy to Learn" pass on their backpack which alerts us that you have self-certified your child. This double layer assists us in knowing that all students are healthy and ready to learn. Thanks for assisting us with this. If you have trouble with Teacherease, please contact Helen Gale. Her email is hgale@itasca10.org

Benson Playground

It has been brought to our attention that several of our Peacock Students have been hanging around the Benson Playground. While this is a public place, we do want to remind our students of our three expectations Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Proud. Students should be social distancing at all times.
