SCHOOL DAY IS FROM 7:50AM - 2:50PM
Distance Learning Schedule
Friday, January 7th will be an asynchronous learning day for students. Students should log in to Schoology and check each of their courses for assignments. There will be no virtual meetings.
Monday, January 10th - Friday, January 14th, we will be following our distance learning schedule.
The distance learning schedule follows our regular bell schedule.
Classes will meet synchronously for at least 30 minutes and the remainder of the class period will be an opportunity for students to keep working on their class assignments and get support from the teachers.
Classes will meet using Google Meets.

We expect our students to continue to show RISE when online. See our RISE Expectations for Distance learning here.
Attendance
Daily attendance is essential to the success of our scholars. Please make sure your learner attends all online classes daily. If there is a reason your child will not be able to attend online, please call our attendance line to excuse them for the day at 952-707-2604.
Technology Support
If your child needs tech support while in online learning, please have them complete a tech support ticket through Rapid Identity and our tech folks will reach out to assist.
Internet Assistance
If you are in need of home internet assistance you can click here for more information on the Emergency Broadband Benefit program which provides discounts on internet services for eligible families. You could also fill out the Application for Educational Benefits form and then reach out to our social worker or counselors:

Distance Learning Meals
Meals will be available for pick-up on Tuesday, January 11th from 11am - 1pm. Packs will be include meals for four days (Tuesday - Friday).
Here are the steps to take:
1. You must fill out this form to request meals.
*The form must be filled out by 9:00AM on Tuesday, January 11th.
2. Arrive between 11am - 1pm at Nicollet Middle School.
3. Have your students LUNCH pin number. Students should know their number but if not you can find their number in ParentVue.
- Step 1~ Sign into your ParentVue account
- Step 2~ Click on your student
- Step 3~ Click on "Student Info"
- Step 4~ At the bottom of the screen click on "Additional Information"
- Step 5~ Scroll to the bottom and under "Miscellaneous Information" will be their meal pin
4. Please park in a parking spot in the front of the school.
5. Walk up to door 20 (immediately right of door 1 as you approach NMS) and get the meal bag you requested.

Thanks to funding from the state of Minnesota, District 191 has a limited supply of BinaxNOW rapid, at-home COVID-19 tests available for students.
**We have one test kit available per Nicollet student and will be distributing them curbside on Friday, January 7th from 8:00am - 3:00pm.
Unfortunately these tests cannot be used to end a student's quarantine time. A PCR test is required for this purpose.

NO BYC JANUARY 10 - 13
Burnsville Youth Collaborative for Grade 6-8: Our BYC afterschool program combines academic support and enrichment along with recreational activities. The program runs Monday - Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00PM each day. We do have plenty of openings so register now!

MODERN DANCE PROJECT IS BACK!
Join the Modern Dance Project! Professional Teaching Artists from the Twin Cities will teach students modern dance concepts and technique while creating three dance pieces over the course of 8 weeks. Practices take place after school on Tuesdays and Fridays at Nicollet Middle School in the Auxiliary Gym from January 18th to March 11th. Transportation and snacks provided.
Participants will perform in The Modern Dance Concert on March 4th at the Mraz Center.
Return your registration form to the office by January 12th.
Project Dates: January 18th - March 11th
Rehearsals: Tuesdays 3-6pm & Fridays 3-5pm

P-EBT Card Update

Application for Educational Benefits
Every year, all families with children enrolled in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 should complete an Application for Educational Benefits. Many families are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals, as well as waived or reduced fees for transportation, athletics, activities and more!
By completing an application, you are helping to ensure every school in District 191 gets the much-needed state and federal funding it deserves.

NICOLLET CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis for athletics and activities during the time of distance learning. These events involve smaller groups of students and are voluntary. All teams must have mitigation plans in place. Activity leaders will reach out with specific information about club meetings.

PRISM Club
PRISM is an after-school club celebrating inclusiveness and individuality! It is a safe, non-judgemental space and network for LGBTQ+ students and allies. We are open to ALL students who want to support each other and promote an accepting environment at NMS.
We meet every-other Tuesday in room 320 (Ms. Schmidt’s room) after school!
The Drama Experience

IMPORTANT VACCINE & TESTING INFORMATION
Vaccine info for 5-12 year olds
The webpage, mn.gov/vaxforkids, was created to be a resource for families to learn about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine for children and teens, understand what to expect when their child gets vaccinated, and why it is important to do so. The site will also help parents find the right vaccination experience and location for their child.
In addition to the webpage, two new videos were created featuring Minnesota pediatricians sharing information about the COVID-19 vaccine for children and why it is important to get kids vaccinated:

Kids Deserve a Shot!
Minnesota has launched ‘Kids Deserve a Shot,’ a vaccine incentives program rewarding Minnesotans 12-17 years old for completing their COVID-19 vaccine series.
Incentives such as VISA giftcards and College Scholarships!

191 Community Pantry
Our family, grocery bag style food distribution available to all community members on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at Diamondhead Education Center. Each grocery bag has 10-15 nonperishable items designed for a family of 4 including a box of assorted fresh fruits and vegetables when available. The Pantry is open to the public.

191 Fresh Produce Distribution
Available July - October provides a box of assorted fresh fruits and vegetables distributed the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at Diamondhead and is available to all community members.
