WESTRIDGE HELPS WONDER AUTHOR

The events surrounding the Solar Eclipse of 2017 resulted in a shortage of approved viewing devices, but Westridge was one of the lucky schools to get their glasses BEFORE the shortage struck! This luck allowed us to in turn help a famous author when she couldn't get glasses for her family. R.J. Palacio is the author of the book Wonder. Wonder is a NATIONAL BESTSELLER and soon to be MAJOR MOTION PICTURE! Thanks to our kindness, the author sent our school pictures to share with our students and a goodie box with Wonder swag! Just goes to show you that kindness is always the answer! #ChooseKind

FRANKLIN COUNTY BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

The Battle of the Books program is open to 4th and 5th grade students who enjoy reading. Each grade level has a list of 25 books from which they read. The students will then be given a written exam in the spring to see how many books they completed. The top 12 students in both grades will advance to the school competition where they will use the buzzer system to compete against one another for the top six spots and a place on the All-Star Team. The All-Star Team will then compete against the top teams from all of the elementary schools in Franklin County in order to determine the district winner.
