Mrs. Wieringa's 3rd grade class just completed a mini unit on engineering and design. As part of that unit they designed pinball machines and invited 8th graders and 1st graders to try them out.
Fantastic designs!
LITERACY WEEK AT SCCS
Next week (February 1-5) we celebrate Literacy Week at SCCS!
The theme this year is "Go Undercover with a Good Book" and our deep hope is that as Agents of Restoration we will delight in the gift of reading and books and share that joy with others.
Each day includes a fun at-school activity plus some simple ideas you may do at home.
We are excited to GO UNDERCOVER and discover the joy found in stories!

PART-TIME ART TEACHER POSITION OPENING
Art program update: SCCS believes in educating and supporting the whole child. This goal is achieved partly through our co-curricular class offerings taught by trained experts in their fields. Currently, we provide K-8 co-curricular classes for the majority of our program: music, PE, library, and guidance. For our art program, we offer specialized classes for grades 5-8. The board is excited to share that we will be expanding our art program to include grades 3-4 next year, with the intention of building to providing K-8 art over the next 1-2 years. This move will continue to enhance the student experience at SCCS and provide several opportunities for students to develop gifts and talents. See the link below for more details, and please share this opportunity with those who may be interested. https://www.siouxcenterchristian.com/about/employment.cfm

MISSION: DEFEAT THE DEBT REPORT
First, we PRAISE GOD from the depths of our hearts for HIS GENEROSITY through our supporters!
We started 2020 with $779,161 left to pay on our $6.8 million 2015 building expansion project.
THANKS to God’s generosity revealed through you, our supporters, we are VERY EXCITED to share that the remaining actual debt is now down to $301,887!! WOW!! Please join us in giving God the glory for this!
How did this happen? Gifts of all sizes given through Trail’Raiser Night (May), donations throughout the year, and especially our year-end “Mission: Defeat the Debt” (which brought in $205,950 and included $40,000 in matching funds!) - all worked together to significantly defeat our debt! We also were extremely blessed by five of our CD loan participants who forgave $143,500 of the debt!*
What’s next?
Our goal is to complete the funding on this building project by the end of May. We hope, through God’s blessing, to accomplish this through Trail’Raiser Night and matching donations to that event.
Trail’Raiser Night is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, and will include a live auction, free-will supper, gourmet cupcakes & bars, Truth t-shirts, and Kid-designed craft (all of it…Lord willing!!)
Save the date and start thinking about how you can contribute to this event!
THANK YOU ALL for showing your love for our students and our school through the generosity of your hands! Please pray for continued generosity as together we complete our MISSION to DEFEAT the DEBT!
*CD loan participants gave over $650,000 in loans to our building project, starting in 2015. They received a competitive CD interest rate on their loan, which we have paid out at the end of each year. Many of them forgave their annual interest payment ($45,113 forgiven since 2015) and several have forgiven principal ($205,000 forgiven since 2015). This program has been a blessing and has provided significant interest savings!
OUTLET 75
We are excited to share that at the end of December, Outlet 75 gave a quarterly distribution check to school in the amount of $25,000! Their total contribution to the mission of our school in 2020 was $75,000! (and they were closed for 6 weeks)
EXTREME THANKS goes to our AMAZING managers - Melissa Punt, Bethany Bosma, and Janey Boogerd - PLUS all our volunteers! We praise God for His leading in this endeavor and thank Him for making it fruitful for the benefit of Christ-centered education!!
Stop by Outlet 75 and check out their amazing selection of NEW clothing and shoes for women, children, and men, plus home décor and furniture. Volunteering at Outlet 75 is truly fun and we need more volunteers! Just once or twice a month for a couple hours will help immensely. Email Janey at info@shopoutlet75.com.
