Family Support Programs
CCA Sponsor a Family - Due by December 2
It's the annual CCA Sponsor a Family time of the year. Over the years, CCA High School Student Council has successfully helped hundreds of families during the holiday season and the school counselors have also provided for our families needing assistance. How it works: families are identified privately and the information they provide drives the overall goal of the program and needs to fulfill. This year we have combined the donation information into one form that covers all grade levels. All our attendance centers are working together and collectively to assist our families. All financial donations collected for Sponsor a Family are spent on the families for this project.
If you are able to sponsor a family this holiday season please fill out the form no later than Friday, December 2.
Thanksgiving Assistance - Fill out by November 11
As Thanksgiving is quickly approaching, we have a wonderful opportunity to share to CCA families. Life Church is teaming up with Hy-Vee to provide all of the Thanksgiving essentials and reduce the financial burden the holiday can bring. If you and your family feel this would be helpful please fill out this form no later than Friday, November 11th so we can arrange the food accordingly.

If you are in need of gift support over the holiday season for your child or family, we will do our best to help. With respect to all families, your wishes and names will not be shared with any donors. There are limited spots for this wonderful opportunity. Interested families can fill out this form.

School Culture Advocates
The district has seven trained Certified School Culture Advocates identified for each attendance center. In addition to their teaching position, they are an additional resource in helping create welcoming spaces for underrepresented populations, engage students in civic dialogue, and ensure all students and staff feel safe and supported in school. In addition, the seven selected individuals work with the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Culture to discuss and create engaging and purposeful professional development, develop partnerships with community stakeholders, and help continue transforming the culture at CCA.

Spelling Bee Information for Grades 3-5
Each building will be holding classroom spelling bees for interested 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in March before spring break. Classroom winners will then move on to the individual building spelling bees that will be scheduled between March 20th-April 1st.
Each building champion from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will be contestants in the District spelling bee held on April 20th from 9:30-11:30.
How can interested students prepare?
The following is a link that will take you to the spelling lists to study. There are 3 difficulty levels:
One Bee (for 3rd graders)
Two Bee (for 4th and 5th graders)
Three Bee (will only be used if all other words have been used and we do not have a winner yet)
Classroom and building spelling competition words will be pulled from the “School Spelling Bee Study List” found at the beginning of each level. The District competition words will be pulled from the “Words of the Champions” lists in each category.
Printed copies available from the secretary in your school office. If you have further questions, please contact your building principal.
How do students qualify for the District Spelling Bee Competition?
Classroom Competitions
All students that are interested may participate in the classroom competition. Each classroom will have one winner that will then compete in the individual building spelling competition.
Building Competitions
The building spelling bee competition will include the classroom winners and they will participate in a spell down to finalize the one student from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade that will move on to the district spelling bee competition in April.

Please consult your child’s healthcare provider if they are experiencing symptoms.

November 13th is World Kindness Day!
Kindness is contagious. Researchers from the Stanford Social Neuroscience Laboratory found that when people see someone else being kind, they are more likely to act kindly towards others themselves. Let’s promote and radiate kindness this week (and always) in honor of World Kindness Day.
WORLD KINDNESS DAY ACTIVITIES:
- Perform at least three random acts of kindness today. Give compliments. Pick up litter. Smile at strangers. Hold a door open. Give up your seat on a crowded bus. Perform at least three random acts of kindness and see what magic follows!
- Give extra hugs and kind words today. Kindness and connection go hand-in-hand. Take a few extra minutes to hug your loved ones and friends today. Make it a priority to say a few nice things to those around you.
- Write a love poem to yourself and read it out loud. You should be kind to yourself too! Write a short poem highlighting the things you appreciate about yourself and your life.
